Time to loose the New Z4 Specific Threads?

Given the relative lack of activity on the 2009+ section is it time to merge it with the General Discussion? I own a 2009 Z4 and tend to browse most of the threads as there is much that interests me in all of them. The 2009+ thread today has not had a new comment since Sun Jan 3.

I think we're all hoping we can gain some interest, but us /M owners have the same thing - I'm used to browsing the General as well as the M Specific.

Something I find very handy is to use the links at the top left - view your posts, view unanswered posts, etc. You get these when you choose Board Index.

This way, you tend to find what's relevant to you straight away instead of having to trawl immediately through the forums.

Personally I'd keep it seperate - it can be annoying when someone answers a very specific question in which you have interest, only to then find 6 pages later it's for a different model / build.

It's a great community here and I think we just need to attract more E89ers

& Mike - good to have you here, we're just jealous.. Not only do you have one of the most beautiful new cars on the road, but you seem to have the best spec too. 8)

Just my opinion - but it could just lead to confusion by merging the two. What you'll also find is that through time people will join here with an E89 and they won't care about the E85/6 in any way. Likewise a lot of people already here don't care for the E89.

I never knew this existed until you mentioned it.

I'm sure "business" will pick up - a few newbies posting who have orders in... you'll soon be frustrated with trespassers! Hopefully the rambling E85/E86 owners will keep you entertained until they arrive.

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to the M specific forum for posting in M threads that I've took for general discussions - such as the mileage debate  Am trying to pay more attention when browsing Active Topics.

Mike, I'm having a bit or a recruitment drive at the moment - will see if I can find any E89 owners

Just a suggestion for any members for an alternative way to browse the forum:

I use the "New Z4 posts" option in the toolbar at the top of the page (under the advert). Brings up all new posts across ALL forums since your last visit. I've also done something - can't remember what - that means I don't see any posts from "The Lounge" subforum

It's a good way to quickly keep track of new postings across all the subforums, works for me.

Don't worry man, that wasn't in anyway intended at you - more from a technical aspect - you think you've found the solution to something only to find it's for a totally different model (eg cruise).

Agree...

+1
It's bad enough answering pre and post facelift questions without getting mixed up with a different model and yep they are 2 different groups at the moment.

Folks, I own an E89, before that I had an M3(E46) and before that I drove the pi*s out of a Z3. Now I can't drive my E89 for at least another 2 months so I have to live vicariously through all of the lucky people on here who live in warmer climes so I enjoy reading all the "Rambling E85/86 posts". :D
If I need "Technical talk" I look at a post in a specific forum, otherwise I like to read all the posts as we are ALL Zed drivers. I don't care which Zed because it is a mindset, "we love Zeds". If the "Management" of this forum wants to lump everything together it wouldn't be a problem either way for me so I guess I'm "sitting on the fence".

That sounded way too serious, it wasn't meant to be.

I use "New Posts" to see what's going on anyway :D :D

Thanks to all of the people that highlighted the links on the top left for ' * View your topics • View unanswered posts • View new posts • View active topics'. I had not notices them before.

The 'View new posts' should be a lot more obvious.

It would encourage people to read the whole contents of the forum. Newbies often just drop in to the General discussion and forget the other sections.
This is quite clear when people post subjects in General that strictly belong in another section. I dont think you will encourage peole to look or post in the other sections without making the 'View new posts' much bigger and literally unmissable.

Agree with that, it's the most-used button by me - well, apart from the backspace, but that's just my crap typing skillz :D

X2 plus I think adding a "New Posts" button at the bottom of the page would be helpful. Save a lot of scrolling back up..

Ooh, good suggestion

First forum I go to is new 2009 model(as lucky enough to take delivery two weeks ago) then look at general discussion etc.
I thought my days of modding were done as Slk was stock from new till trade in(5years from new), after several modded cars in the past (Clio Williams with stage two engine conversion by prima racing probably my favourite)
but this site is giving me other ideas!!!
I have washed it three times since picking it up, now using two buckets, lambswool mitt and microfibre drying cloth Instead of sponge and shammy!!
