Why is it when I put something in the search section rarely anything comes up what I'm looking for??
I've noticed a few people seem to have the same problem from previouse posts.

Anyone have the answer??

Russ59, if you have tried to find something and can't go ahead and post a request. Someone will give you some help and if no one else does one of the mods will.

Cheers mate, I know.
But you always get the one's that post

WHY DONT YOU USE THE SEARCH.

It doesnt hurt to point someone to the correct thread, I've done it myself.
Thats what this forum is for, helping others.

Individual words need to be 4 letters or longer, you won't get a hit on two 3 letter words. Use "+" for words to include and "*" for wildcard searches. Most of all it comes with remembering odd words in a thread, thinking laterally or mastering the Z4-Forum vernacular

Pretty much any well designed forums that don't have the finances for something like a Google Search Appliance will have the same issues.

I know what you mean about the "Use a search" response, just mention that you've tried when posting and if they come up scan over them! At the same time I do appreciate that some members answer the same questions a dozen times.

check this thread out - method of searching using google, might be worth a try?

Search......

There is also the same option of using the forum home page which uses Google in the same way, but can be hard to filter the results this way.

Excellent advice, both.

Did not know that about the home page
(I hope it's not in the FAQ, hate to appear slack)
