Is there a way to tag a user to a post, other than sending an email/pm? If not, would make a useful feature ...

You mean like this? markeg

Just use the square brackets with ref username /ref

Not quite Perry, what I'm after is sending a notification, like with the quote tags. I notice that quote changed with the upgrade so it now includes user_id as a field - so quote *may* work but if user_id is a required field, then it won't. However, that's still a convoluted way of just "tagging" someone in a post so they get a notification.

For example, when someone wants info on a roof motor relocation, you could tag someone in a post, and they pick it up, without having to respond, then pm etc...

Lots of forums use the @ symbol, so @markeg would notify me about a post. Doesn't seem to work on this forum though. Others use tags like [userlink]markeg[/userlink]. Seems we only have the quote tags, which are a bit of a bodge:
