New z4 35i

Post by mikez4coupe » Sat Sep 20, 2014 5:29 pm

Hi all,

I've taken the plunge and purchased an e89 z4 and absolutely love it.

There's no doubt that it's a little less involving to drive than my z4 coupe but its so refined and boy does it go!

I'm at a loss as to which alloys are on this car, any ideas?

Nice, Like it. Notice that its a pre facelift with the LED Angel Eyes upgrade and the indicators too. I'm also loving the blue callipers. Are these the ///M Performance ones or are they just the standard ones that have been painted blue? Only reason I ask is there is no performance parts for the E89. Oh and how is the Miltek? I assume its a non resonated bad boy?

Oh and welcome :)

Hi Angie,

The calipers have just been painted blue I think. The previous owner fitted the M bumpers too which really sets the car off.

I'm thinking about fitting H & R lowering springs to it but not sure if I can with 275 30 19's. Might have to fit 265's to avoid rubbing.

Looks like the wheels are from an M6?

Oh and yes its non resonated & bloody loud. I have to be careful I'm not too near the house on the driveway when starting up as it wakes everyone up, not to mention pissing off the neighbours!

Love the raspy tone to it and it's surprisingly quiet on the motorway.

Lol! I had a non resonated Miltek on my FN2 Type R and quiet on any road was not heard of unless the engine was off! But then the 35i will not be doing 3000 rpm plus at 70 lol! Calipers do look ace a nice touch, I'm wondering if the wheels are genuine M6 wheels or reps but they still set the car off really well

The wheels will likely be after market as the official m6 wheels cost the earth. It's a lovely looking car you have there.

Justcruzin, we're your mirrors silver from new or aftermarket? If so where did you get them from? I thinking of buying some for my zed. :D

As he has a 35is they come with silver mirror caps as standard. Just like the back end of the 35is the rear defused is body coloured and not a shiny greyish plastic. I'm sure you could get some mirror caps from a dealer or possiby from someone who has changed them. I was going to change mines but now I quite like them. It identifies it as the 'very quick one' not that many people know what in driving anyway.

how are you finding the Miltek system? Was it a full system including the down pipes or are the secondary cats still in place?

I have a 2011 35i and its time to do a bit of modding.

I fitted a Miltek full system to my old E85 and it was awesome. I note that you say its loud on startup, is this because of the 1,500 rpm start or is it just generally bloody noisy?

Does it still keep the pop / crack in upshifts and down shifts?

di you go for the 100mm tail pipes?

do you suffer any flat spots?

Sorry for so many question, but once done, these things are are hard to undo easily.

Dario
