New BMW Scrub here

Post by Monkeydonkeyratmagic » Mon Oct 16, 2017 2:11 pm

Afternoon All,

Hope everyone is well.

So on the weekend picked up a 54 2.5i (£2.5k) Cannot really get better for the money imo, filthy cheap and it's only missing leather somehow, has every other extra on it. Lump and box are mint, Roof motor replaced, new brakes all round, new exhaust (unsure on brand but it looks OE)
Only downsides are it's quite tatty inside, the guy must smoke like 40 a day, absolutely stank.
Anyway so Leather Seats ordered on fleabay for £150 all in (heated ones) so now after some door cards.

Just have a few questions if anyone can point me in the right direction please.
The silver trims are past it, Not really wanting to go down the route of replacing, It seems hard to find a complete set and mixing them could end up with marks etc that don't match and look a bit gippo. Has anyone got a guide at all on removing all the silver trims at all? Going to give it a nice "leather" wrap job but cannot work out how to get the centre parts off.

Also I tried a search for this, I have no clue if the parking sensors are working or intermittent, sometimes in reverse the audible cue is there ( and loud ) and sometimes there is nothing. Bit unsure on where to start. Will be required if my wife is to park it. Kind of sold the idea to her on the basis the car is "fully speccd"

Major downside... 1 Key... Is it worth asking BMW for another key? I get value is in the eyes of the beholder and all but doubtless they are probably £300+

Thanks All.

Welcome along - A member called DuckLakeView (North West England) can make you a spare 'flip' key for a fraction of the cost.

Or, just noticed this if Cambridge is closer:

Got any pics of your bargain?

Hi and welcome to the forum OP.

Your car looks great - a definite bargain.

Another recommendation for ducklakeview - he cut and coded a flip key for me a couple of weeks ago. It's just so much better than the standard key!

Mine is coded for the sensors to "beep" when I select reverse, but I believe that if they aren't coded that way a "beep" when you select reverse is to tell you they aren't working. I'm sure I read somewhere that faults are often down to a bad connection to the sensors.

Hope you can get it as you want painlessly.
Coupes because stunning!
