Another excited soon-to-be Zed owner

Hello,

As the latest Newbie on this lovely Forum I thought I'd better say "Hi". Hi!

I shook hands today on the purchase of a lovely 2008 3-litre roadster, in Silver with Black seats. Here she is:

We've been searching for what seems like forever, but has in fact been about 2 or 3 months. Our search criteria included 6 cylinders and a budget of 10-15k. And seats that are *NOT* red!! So many that have otherwise fitted our criteria seem to have red seats - great if you like that but not if you don't. And others that fitted the bill for us would have involved a tedious 200-mile round trip involving the M25 :(

SO: Feeling very excited now we've finally found one that was in striking distance, and with the added bonus of being an Approved Used from BMW, so we have the comfort blanket of a comprehensive main dealer warranty :D

What is more, I somehow managed to wangle a really good deal on the trade-in of my trusty Audi A3 1.8T Sport. Say goodbye, it has served us very well for seven years:

We will also be finding a new home soon for my hubby's old 1972 MG midget, since the Zed will provide for all our open-top motoring needs (while a recently purchased VW Passat Estate is already replacing the Family Outings and Skip Wagon functions of the Audi).

The Z4 Forum has been really useful to us during our search, so thanks guys for all the helpful information provided. I look forward to being part of the community

Hi and welcome. I know what you mean about the red seats, when I was looking I kept coming across cars with the right colour paint, right engine, right miles, but aarrgh! Red seats! Many on here like them but for me leather should always be black in a sportscar.

Happy Zedding! :driving:

Hey I have red seats! Zelda will be so hurt when I tell her :)

Beautiful looking roadster by the way!

Nice looking Z Mirrie :) i too set off not wanting red but now after seeing quite a few on here quite like it

Welcome Mirrie - what a great first post, thank you

We'll agree to disagree on the red seats though :D

Please tell Zelda that I think red seats such as hers do indeed look very beautiful - it's just that it's not a look that I would personally be comfortable with for my own wheels.

Thanks for that, and for all the welcomes - what a lovely bunch you are :)

Yes, I'm looking forward to picking up my beauty on Tuesday - I think she's going to be a Katy. I shall be spending some time over the weekend picking out which 6 CDs to take to load up for the ride home. Oh, and maybe I should sort out my insurance too :-|

PS I'll sort myself out with a signature some point soon - I see it is pretty much de riguer to list your spec down there...

Noooo, you've walked right into it there. You don't know this lot, just waiting for the comments about 'down there specs'
(Because you're new they may leave you alone, doubtful though!)

Welcome along - looks a nice Titanium Silver Roadster - welcome along.

Depending on your location this weekend would be a good time to go on a forum outing there are lots this weekend

Will have to be another weekend - have to wait until Tuesday to get the keys.
But thanks for the tip (and the complement and welcome) - I'll keep an eye out for outings near me

Welcome!

I never liked red at first either... So glad i found a two tone variant!

Or as my gf says pink seats :x

Welcome

My wife hated the red seats as well... we got a black interior, she says she knows best

Well, I now *am* an excited newbie Zed owner - I can't believe how long those four days between agreeing the deal and collecting the car seemed! And then we nearly didn't manage to bring her home at all: to cut a long story short, the coolant temperature warning light came on within the first mile or two as we set off home, and it turns out the BMW garage [Coopers of Colchester] had managed to get an air lock in the cooling system when doing their final service before we collected. Whoops. So we had to hang around while they let the engine cool then sorted it out. At least they insisted on paying for the lunch we had while we were waiting.

Anyway: Oh, oh, oh, what a joy to drive! :driving: :D

Driving home, I realised after a short while that I had a great big smile on my face - one that stayed there even after we'd got home and I was going about my business. The responsiveness of the throttle and smoothness of acceleration is just amazing, isn't it. But then you lot all know that of course.

Here's a gratuitous picture of her parked up on the drive:

And I have put us on "the Map".

Z looking good
Just in time for the glorious summer we are going to have
And there's no such thing as a gratuitous pic of a Z on the forum :D
