The car is now up for sale!
https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-mot ... 1222735351
But I can't wait to start looking for the Z4!!! Fingers crossed the 135i doesn't take too long to shift.
With any second hand car new to me I will be doing the basic oil + filter change, brake fluid, and perhaps spark plug change for piece of mind. Will also consider discs and pads given the plan for the summer road-trip. Are there any other areas that would be advisable to service / check ?
I would hate for anything to go wrong mid trip!

Hi and welcome!
Be interesting to see what you go for in the end.
I'd echo what's been said about the boot space. Going for a weekend away sometimes isn't enough space for us!
Other things to factor, some insurance companies provide you with 30 days or something abroad? Save you hassle of getting some sort of add on. Also breakdown cover? For piece of mind?
For maintenance I'd say (other than what's listed) tyres. Aggressive camber means more wear on the inner edge of the tyres. Something to watch out for and potential haggling point when looking. One of mine was above wear indicator on the outside edge, but had thread showing on the inside... Also runflats or normal? Runflats depending on the type of roads could be murder on the trip. But then again you'd probably want runflats since you're 'far from home'. Also make sure that roof motor is in top shape. If you can relocate it to the boot and top it up if it needs more hydraulic fluid.

The 135i has gone I made the fatal mistake of one last drive, almost thought about keeping here!
SO now the Z4 hunt is on. Hopefully looking to get some viewings together soon.

So finally making the jump Zeds an older car but you won't be disappointed! Wife preferred the ride of e46... but me, Zeds 'like a glovee'
When I can I try buy first, like with the e46. Then I can take my time selling. Gives you a bit of flexibility, provided you've got that kind of cash around! Oh and parking!

Sounds like a mixture of good news and a hint of regret!
I did that last year when I was thinking about selling my first E86 - someone on here was looking for one and came to see mine. Then I used it for a last drive the next day and he called me that evening to put a deposit on it - I couldn't let him down, but as I had just been reminded of what I would be missing I went out 2 days later and found my next one! Won't do that again.
Anyway, I hope you find a Z4 you like soon - and don't forget we need some photos once you have one (if not before)!
Coupes because stunning!

So I have one! Well I have had it for a few weeks now.
Loving it to bits, there is certainly a real sense of occasion driving the Z4 compared to the 135i. Being lower, closer to the rear axle, less noise insulation all adds to the driving experience.
Discs and pads done all around using Pagid OEM parts, the discs are factory treated to prevent rusty hubs for the OCD in me. Inspection 1 carried out by my local specialist Power Developments. All ready for the Euro road trip!

That's a looker you have found. Love the seats that colour and those wheels. How is your GF finding driving it. My Mrs finds the zed a bit tricky on the country lanes.
