Hi from sunny stoke on Trent England

Post by Crabbo » Sun Feb 19, 2017 8:25 am

Hi everyone,

Just bought myself a 2006 3.0si se coupe with M sport seats (which I believe is rare?) after just selling my 2016 Audi s3 because it was just so dull.

It's a nice car but I have a few questions/issues I hope you can all help with?

Firstly what is the colour of my car as I want to buy a touch up stick?

Which lowering springs will fit it being an SE? Also I want some csl wheels but don't want to pay for genuine who make a good quality replica?

Thanks in advance

Hi crabbo, looks like you have a silver grey car-much more interesting than an Audi :P

Hi and welcome aboard.

Bit of a sea change from a 2016 Audi family car to a 2006 BMW sports car!
Have to agree about the Audi though, one of my brothers has one and although its nice its very uninspiring. Audi's have never been great to drive when compared to BMW's but I used to prefer their interiors. These days though even the interiors of the current A3 and TT etc seem very bland, just giant slabs of black plastic when compared to BMW. Not keen on the Mercs in that respect either they look like someone has glue an Ipad on the dash as an after though.

I agreed with Rob that it looks Silver Grey and as said the vin decoder will hopefully confirm. Failing that, if your going to BMW for the touch up anyway they will certainly be able to confirm.

Thanks!

Do you know what offset I can get away with for a fairly aggressive stance but retaining usability can't seem to google a solid answer?

The s3 was a nice car and was mapped to 375bhp 0-60 in 3.9 seconds but was so so boring. And depreciated as much in 10 months as the z4 cost

Fairly damning review of a S3!!
Don't worry, you're in the right place now!

Lovely looking car Crabbo. Welcome to the forum.

I moved from a 1.5 diesel renault megane to the Z, now that was a boring car but it did seem to run on a thimble of diesel. I'm much better acquainted with my local shell vpower pump these days

Welcome Crabbo , id say silvergrey & from memory paint code is A08 i think ?
Wheels id look for as close to et40 fronts & et33 rears as poss for your E86 , ideally stick to 8j fronts but i know the majority will be 8.5j , i wouldn't go over that width on fronts & aim for 9.5j rears

Thanks everyone,

Mr Wilks Ihttp://www.cadeswheels.com/artemis.html was looking at cades csl reps have you had any experience with them? They do a 8j and a 9j. What tyres and offsets can I get away with do you think?

Thanks

To get a visual idea on my previous Si roadster ( same fitment as your E86 ) i fitted 8j fronts et35 & 9j rears et33 ( car on standard Si suspension )
I like more rubber around my wheels than some so opted for 255 35 19 rears 225 40 19 fronts but it really comes down to which wheel dimensions you go for as to the actual tyre sizes

Sounds good, I want a little stance but not at the cost of ruining the car. I was possible going to drop it 30mm as well. It's a se so looks like it's on stilts.

Would those tyre sizes clear everything do you think?

And yes had many vag cars none have kept me entertained for long except for mk4 r32 but the engine failed at 40k so that was nice

Hi and Welcome!
M seats might be a retro fit? But rare in a non M? I'd say so!
With CSL's I'd also keep an eye on the buy and sell section? Might be able to pick up a second hand set with rubber, which won't set you back as much as new wheels and new rubber? :)
