Hello from Stoke!
Hi folks, newbie here with first post and (hopefully) pictures!
Bought a Mk2 MX5 2 years ago as a second car for summer days, and after 2 very enjoyable years of low miles on sunny days have finally managed to scratch my Z4 itch! MX5 gone, and a 2003 3.0 SE in. Got it from a guy in Scotland. 66k miles, serviced every 2 years with recent rear tyres and brakes, and loads of receipts. Red leather, Xenons, upgraded speakers, and 108 alloys. Was a bit worried when I clocked the yellow mayo on the oil cap, but a quick skim on this forum showed it's common in cold weather on short-journey cars. It's been used as a second car for a lot of it's life and only had 3 previous owners.
It's a bit shabby in places, notably the 108s which are suffering from a fair bit of corrosion, so that's one of the first jobs. Needs a good polish and detail to get her looking much brighter. I'm also in the phase of panicking over the slightest knock or unusual noise. Paid £3,700 for her, which I think is ok, but I'm sure you can tell me otherwise if need be!!
Compared to MX5 - a less "raw" experience in terms of seat of the pants, but waaaay faster, more grown up, and what an engine!! It completely defines the car, and the power is just addictive. Will def be looking into the back box mod that a few of you seem to have had done via Mike. I'm not far away, so it looks like an obvious mod.
Also looking at stubby gear knob, the aforementioned alloy refurb, and will book her in for a service and once-over at my local indy just to soothe my mind.
Anyway, looking forward to being part of what looks like a fantastic community - great to see so much interaction and positive involvement from people on here.
Cheers!
Paul

Sounds like you're happy with your new purchase
With low mileage/short journeys, many owners carry out interim oil changes to reduce the internal condensation/mayo under the filler cap issue

Hello from Stoke!
Cool, thanks for the advice Rob, def something I need to do!
@Jamie - I think I will probably revisit MX5 ownership at some point, as the ability to get the arse out at ridiculously low speeds was great! Loving the Zed though - concerned that the number of ideas people have given me just from browsing the forum might make it a rather more expensive hobby than I anticipated!!

Hello from Stoke!
Welcome to the forum Paul. Nice to see a "proper" roady
The biggest decision you have to make I'm afraid, is; Whippy or Stubby?
The two are like factions on here lol
I have a stubby, and I'm proud! I've replied to your email also.

Hello from Stoke!
Rain? If I'm out in mine, the roof is down, unless it's torrential Even on the motorway, as long as you are doing 50mph with the windows pup, it goes over your head, although you do get some strange looks from other people..Izzyspi wrote:Marlon, - thanks, I hope so. Fantastic car for the money
Hello from Stoke!
Welcome to the forum, that sounds like a great car for the money, even after a few "to do's" it should still be a very good buy.
I'm new to mine as well and the list of mods I'd like is growing. I know what you mean about the power being addictive, the M54 engine is a proper job. What's more amazing, I got an indicated average of 39.2 mpg on a 70mile / 70mph cruise up the motorway last weekend, even if that's 10 to 15% out, it's still impressive for an engine of that calibre and age.

Hello from Stoke!
Hi and welcome.
Well done in "repatriating" a Zed from north of the border - there's far too many of them up there!
And thanks for the pics - looks nice.
Enjoy
