Newbie & car history

Post by Harvey669 » Tue Mar 21, 2017 1:13 pm

Morning one and all.

New member to the forum here. Always been a petrolhead, having owned a number of cars from the Volkswagen/Audi Group. I've attached some photos to keep the post interesting. Started off with a aqua blue Corrado VR6. Image

and swapped this with a friend for a corrado VR6 that had a 3.0litre GrantMotorsport engine. Felt like a race car, was a race car, stupidly loud and quick however was too temperamental. Moved to my third corrado, this time a midnight blue corrado VR6 that included Porsche split rooms and a supercharger fitted to the V6 lump

...was great fun however was forced to sell and buy something a bit more sensible.

So went and bought a Seat Leon Cupra R 225 and remapped it. Nice car with plenty of poke but never felt special so did a swap for a Mk4 Golf R32

This was a lovely motor that did feel special. Wish I never sold it however met a woman, who is now my wife so had to sell my toy cars to pay for wedding and mortgages.

I'm now in a position to buy a wee sports car. I have around 5-7k to spend. Looked at alternatives, Honda S2000 are ridiculously priced in my opinion, Porsche boxters for that money are all high mileages. MX5.....doesn't feel special enough and underpowered.

I have decided to opt for a 3.0 Z4 convertible, preferably the Si version however my research shows there is little difference in performance between the 3.0i and 3.0si. Would prefer a manual or a flappy paddle option and sports seats are a must.

Anyway hope you enjoy the pictures.

Thanks

Kris

Welcome to the forum. :) I guess if you must drive VAG products then you picked the right ones. The last VW I was tempted to buy was a VR6. Still what do I know I bought a Mk1 Primera instead.

welcome,

I had a mk4 r32 timing chain failed, replaced it with an e36 328i that cost a 10th of the golf but much prefered the engine and driving dynamics.

Although didnt make as good a noise
