G'day from Oz
Newbie member just signing on after purchasing this 2010 E89 35i. What a car - I'm still trying to get my head around all the functions. She's immaculate, fully optioned with a 6-speed manual and only 49,000 km on the clock. It's also been chipped and there's a larger intercooler lurking somewhere under the bonnet.
Any other Aussies on this forum? I'm from rural Gippsland in Victoria.

G'day from Oz
Thanks for the welcome
The SPYDUH plates were originally purchased for and used on my classic Fiat 124 Spider, but when our roads authority brought in discounted classic car registration for cars over 25 years old, the plates needed to be changed to the designated Classic Permit Scheme plates. Instead of selling them on, I bought the Z4 to put them on
Still got the 124 Spider as well

Nice E89 - cool to see you got the respectable engine option
I'm in Queensland but I know a couple of other E86 Z4s down in Victoria (not on here though). You should join Bimmer Club Australia (look it up on Facebook) as they are an awesome, free club that do fantastic drive days and can hook you up with plenty of good advice!
Love the plates too

Does it still count as roof down in Oz, or is it roof up?

G'day from Oz
Hi and welcome OP.
I like the idea of a fully-optioned 35i Manual - I'm too old to want the flappy-paddles that are compulsory on the 35iS!
Great plate BTW, just a shame it can't stay on your Fiat. 124 Spiders are few and far between in the UK (seeing as they were only built in LHD), so must be as rare as rocking horse poo in Oz! Those Lampredi twin-cam engines were amazing back in the 60s compared to contemporary MGBs with an old push-rod lump, lever-arch dampers, rear drum brakes, etc.
What is the spec of your Fiat? Whatever it is, it looks fantastic!

Yes Mr Tidy, 124 Spiders are very rare over here. As you say, they were never produced in RHD, so most of the ones in Oz have been privately imported from the USA. Mine came from California and I spent a few years restoring and converting it to RHD. Thankfully we did receive the 124 Sports Coupe over here when new and there are still a few of them around from which the steering box and pedal assembly can be pilfered
The engine is a 2-litre with high comp pistons, warm cams and a pair of DCOE Webers - certainly in a different league to the BMC B-series

I too am very much 'Old School' and waited months for the right 35i to come along - it had to be a manual
I almost gave up waiting and bought a Boxster S, but I'm glad I didn't.
