Going to pick up my "new" E85 tomorrow

Well I went, took a test drive, paid the cash and drove home... so far so good...

And it still is :-)

85 miles of A & B roads including some pretty spirited driving - and then some bits of waiting for my good lady in her SLK 350 to catch up.

Things I like:
The engine is a peach
I actually like the Autobox, although the manual bit seems reversed to my way of thinking
The Heater works, the Air con is cold
The stereo (Business CD) is actually rather good although I am unsure why the PO had the fader/balance set up like that!
The DSC button :-)
The Sport button (awesome)
30MPG (according to the computer so we'll see)
The sound (a tiny bit quiet, but I'll sort that out)

Things I don't like:
The tramlining
The way the doors sound when you shut them

That's about it.

I found a 6 CD changer in the centre rear console (PO didn't know it was there) but it seems to have an 8 CD magazine jammed in it!

I found a huge folder of receipts and a good service history in the boot. I also found the receipt for the gearbox replacement - £1998 !! (Incidentally that's more than I paid for the entire car!).

I think I'll look for a gateway/cd changer emulator rather than faff with the OEM one.

Guess which car I'll be taking to work tomorrow (hint, it's NOT the Lexus or the Jag) :-)

Performance-wise - roughly on a par with my old TVR Chimaera, so that'll do for now..

Hi Savage, I also have the auto and I really like it, especially the sports button. Does it have run flat tyres as these effect the way these cars drive.
The doors are better if you put a sound proofing in them,

Yeah it still has runflats - they'll be going in the bin and I'll have to do the soundproofing in the doors I've already had a couple of "OMG did those doors come off a Trabant" comments LOL

I'm just about to order a bluetooth adapter, don't think I'll bother with a "handsfree kit" as I'm unlikely to want to chat on the phone when driving this.

What a nice car, I wonder why I've not had one before...?

That's very cool, I can probably make that, I'm in Dorset overnight Saturday night, but I'll be on the bike so can get back pretty quickly. Sounds ideal...
