Bluetooth and Blackberry Problem

Hi all - wondering if anybody has any thoughts on a frustrating problem that I am suffering in the bluetooth connection between my 2006 Z4C and Blackberry 8100 (software version 4.2.1.103).

When I pair the phone to the car, there are no problems. Also about 50% of the time when I get in the car, the two link fine and I can find my contacts and make calls no problem. However, the rest of the time, the two seem to link, but when I go to use the phonebook I get 'half' of one phone number (eg 0140375) and if I try to flick through for additional numbers it says 'No Entries'. I can receive calls when it's like this, but can't make them. There doesn't seem to be any particular rhyme or reason to why it works perfectly sometimes and not others.

I've tried clearing SMS messages from the phone and this didn't help at all.

Does anybody else have this problem? Anybody got any ideas what's causing it and more importantly, how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Nope - I pair both my Pearl and more recently Curve to the car with no problems at all. Also pairs to my X5. Phone numbers download from address book, although sometimes it takes a coupel of times connecting before it refreshes the addresses. Search, scroll, dial, receive, etc. all work fine as do voice commands.

I initially had problem when I had way too many contacts in my address book, but using guidence from a forum member paired down the number that go to my Blackberry by using categories in Outlook and then under the Bluetooth in the Blackberry just picking one smaller group to go to the car. No probs since. (I can explain that in more detail if required)

I do however caution that the bluetooth system on BMW's is very fickle and each age of car (using different ULF modules) and type of phone is a gamble to how well it will pair.

That's interesting. I have several hundred contacts in my address book, and they often have several numbers so show up as multiple 'records'. Do you think this could be the problem? Just seems odd that it's intermittant.

I cannot say if it is or not, but reducing mine from the hundreds of contact downloaded from Outlook allowed it to work correctly with 2 different blackberries on 2 generations of bluetooth ULF module.

Regardless it made my life easier with reduced numbers to scroll through on the road

Incase anybody searches for this problem in the future - just want to close the loop and confirm that reducing the number of contacts to below 100 appears to have fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help forum!

Well that 's great as you oft wonder if something that worked on one particular set up of bluetooth and phone is portable solution

I can confirm this also. I had the same problem with my BlackBerry, reduced the number of contacts and it worked fine. It's impossible to scroll through hundreds of numbers anyhow.
