This might be a bit of a simple question lol but does the gear knob just pull off to replace? or un-screw...or what? :?

Tried to pull it a bit but didn't have the bottle to yank it!

Put it in 2nd, sit in the passenger sit, imagine the trajectory of your hands once you have the knob off, and make sure your chin won't be in the way :D

might find it easier to centre on the transmission tunnel with the roof open (not coupe of course). I know PVR also used this method.

I felt it coming so I eased of at the pulling. Also, using the top part of your arms stiff prevents you from hitting yourself. I did sit on the centre console which I found the most comfortable way to control the force.

Hmm, that does sound bad ...

Pull hard. Don't smack your face. Do make sure you have tissues to mop up your fat lip if you do. Don't also do this whilst sat waiting to get on a ferry to go on holiday.

Please... listen to sixspeed. He knows what he's talking about. That picture of his "luscious" lips after knob removal is just classic. :poke:
