Sounds like you enjoyed yourself Mr Wilks. I have driven a few roads in North Wales over the years but only as a day trip out. You have given me some food for thought there.

TomK wrote:Some great tips here chaps, thanks. Off to Anglesey circuit next sunday, driving up through snowdonia on the saturday roughly along this route. https://www.motogoloco.com/map?route=28592&key=dad2e8cc any suggestions welcome.
Did the evo triangle and anglesey a couple of years ago when I first got the car and have been itching to go back, for the circuit mostly but there were some fantastic roads. Didn't go through snowdonia last time so looking forward to that. Will probably skip the evo this time, sounds a bit hot these days.
Sometimes its not always the road , its the fact you get it to yourself & at times this weekend i have been on stunning stretches of tarmac spoiled with too much traffic .
Not too far for you to detour find Llangynog to the east of Bala , that stretch heading west into Bala was a dream to drive & the scenery was completely Cairngorm's . i saw nobody (11-30am) for 25/30 mins & was probably the most enjoyable driving of the weekend :driving:

Thanks Andy, will look at that. Yes you are completely correct, traffic is key. Sadly I'm having to travel through on saturday. Still I'm sure it won't be all bad :)

Well if i did it again i would repeat both of the hotel stays , "The Hand" Llanarmon was pretty special & "Saracens Head" Beddgelert was a unbeatable location at the bottom of Snowdon .
Loved every minute , a great weekend made that bit better with some decent weather , was roof down pretty much the whole time :)

Lovely pictures Andy. I cant wait to hear more about it when I see you. However, i would have thought that in October, you would have found it quieter. Perhaps it was the fact that it was the weekend, rather than mid-week?

Wales is a stunning part of the British Isles unappreciated by far too many. We are literally 15 minutes from Wales, here in Bristol, yet to most Bristolians, they seem to think its a million miles away and you'd need a passport. The Wye valley is stunning, yet unchartered by most English.

The beauty for us, like you Andy is that whilst Snowdon may be a few hours away, the journey to it on top roads start far closer to home, saving you the endurance of 100's of motorway miles, before your driving holiday starts.

I had a coffee with Spikey today and we've already agreed that North Wales will be on our 2017 calendar again for April time.

Overnight stay for those coming a distance, but on a Sunday morning people have travelled over from Yorkshire for a 10 am start.
I must have a drive out there again before Winter sets in, some epic and mostly empty roads. :driving:
