We have a road trip booked for this spring to southern France and as part of this we are staying at Gap in the Alps for a couple of nights. Does anyone know any/driven any routes/ roads in that area that they would recommend as 'must do'

I'm not sure how far West you are going but if you are near the Pyrenees, the road from Lourdes to Bagnere de Biggore via the Col de Tourmalet ..... which is part of the Tour de France is worth a trip. The Pic de Midi observation centre is also worth a visit (it is a space observatory giving a stunning view over the Pyrenees which is accessible by cable car) . Only go if it is a clear day and wrap up warm as the air is very thin up there!!!

We are heading down from Reims the night before so quite a drive but sure we will go via Grenoble to Gap. Two nights pencilled in at Gap then the next night in Nimes. I'll have a look at Alpe d,huez

Gap to Nimes also sets you up nicely for a detour on route to climb Mt Ventoux :driving:

I should think so, that phase of the trip is pretty open. We know where we are going from Nimes for the remaing few days ( subject to others  ) and the first night will be in Reims. Gap was selected as a base as it's in the region we want to drive however we're still looking at routes for the 2 full days in that area and looking for plenty of advice and recommendations. We may even pop into Italy
