Return of the Midweekers on the quest for the golden boot

Post by paulgs1000 » Sat Mar 18, 2017 3:57 pm

Phone call from Chesherman last week: He wanted to visit a company that provides clothing for karting in Hawick - how did we fancy a run out on Wednesday? No brainer for us as the roads upto and beyond Kielder are terrific. Chesherman got in contact with Cherrym and he and his mate Dave were able to join us as well  Sadly, PorthoZ4 has sold his Zed and bought an Audi estate but it didn't stop us all having an impromtu run up to Hartside when we met for breakfast the week before  old habits never die :driving:

:Image

Our route had a road closure on it but no problem with Cherrym's encylopedic knowledge of the roads, we soon bypassed that  We take turns to lead and this was the first time we'd been able to see Cheshireman in his new E89 take the lead. It impressed with it's abilities and it certainly looks the part on the road in it's stealthy black 8) Nice choice (though we all agreed it was the driver made the difference not the Zed  )

Image

We had a great run up with little traffic and clear roads (though you had to take care at times; still some greasy corners)

After driving past the company a couple of times, a phone call saw us in their offices and excellent customer service saw Cheshireman outshining my bright red Pilottis by buying golden racing boots! . . . go for it! 8)

Image

Our preferred café was closed so we made do with Morrisons (massive safe carpark) and surprisingly decent food in their café.

Image

Cherrym had some coaching to do late afternoon so he headed off with Dave back to Newcastle on the A68 but Cheshireman, me and Steph had time on our side and took the Newcastleton loop and really enjoyed the clear roads once on our way back.

Brilliant to be out again with the midweekers and looking forward to more 'quests' in the future :D :thumbsup

I had a great time when Smartbear and myself came up for Dave to move our roof motors, Cherrym led us on a drive out to Hartside cafe and back, couldn't believe how quiet the roads were and the scenery is just fantastic.
Must be great having all those great roads on your doorstep

It's good to see the crew out and hitting the road once again, taking advantage of the fantastic roads :driving: . It's also a reminder of the trips still to come, are just around the corner :D

Cherrym has met many (maybe all?) the Zed owners that have come to Dave's for the work on their roof motors. That's been a big contribution to the forum and a big help to many owners
