Pbondar wrote: Mon May 22, 2017 2:38 pm Following on from runs to 'Dumfries and Galloway' and 'Scottish Borders' and after discussing with Craig3.2, I'm pleased to say we are adding the third element of this Scottish trilogy.

The Border Reivers run will start in a Scottish Border town on an approximately 225 mile route heading south west across the Border, following Hadrian's Wall then in a large orbit through the English Scottish Borders finishing back to said same town.

It doesn't use any of the roads used on the previous two runs.

Expressions of interest welcome..joining details will be sent out a week before. Looking for an 09:00 departure and return around 17:00.

For interest Border Reivers were raiders along the Anglo-Scottish border from the late 13th century to the beginning of the 17th century. Their ranks consisted of both Scottish and English families, and they raided the entire Border country without regard to their victims' nationality. When raiding, or riding, as it was termed, the reivers rode light on hardy nags or ponies renowned for the ability to pick their way over the boggy moss lands, as soldiers, the Border reivers were considered among the finest light cavalry in all of Europe.

Not sure whether a Z4 meets the criterion, you will have to decide if you qualify as a reiver!

Any questions..pls ask..

The long term forecast is mild this winter for the Borders...but apparently you get better lap times on good winter tyres once peak temperatures are below 7c...-:)

Si I have some nice BMW 17" 103 wheels with Continental Winter Contact TS860 which should be pothole resistant as well as being nice and grippy in adverse conditions...

I'm planning to pop them on from beginning of November to end of March...

Hmm, tempted by this as we staying over in Melrose for the night on the 16th. Not sure if we will be in the Zed or not as she has been cleaned up ready for sale. I will have a word with the boss and try and catch up with you for a few miles.
