you can use normal car shampoo mixed with water.

Think I'm using diluted ONR at present.

That's what I would normally use - However, with the Nanoskin Autoscrub, as it's on the DA it "foams" up a shampoo/water dilution. Was thinking of a specific, dilutable lube (oeer!) that wouldn't contain soap as such.

I use the Dodo juice lube, although not sure how much better it will be for you as it is also a shampoo based lube.

Ive used washing up liquid as it also helps strip any remaining wax.. and I have also got a premixed snow foam with water that seems to do the job. I don't use any of the clay mitts etc and just use a proper clay bar, I found the mitts too aggressive and not good for my use.

Good info  I always used cheap detail spray, never thought of using a soap solution before. I wonder if the cheaper detail spray can be diluted to work with a da polisher?

Hmm, looks like either a 500ml of Dodo's born slippy dilutable, or this for a similar price - Anyone used it, gets good reviews on DW..

I use the clay mitt - works for me.

I have been tempted to lube with washing up liquid to help remove the wax, but it just feels wrong!

I wouldn't use washing up liquid as it's bulked up with salt. which isn't a good combo with steel. Also contains strong alkalies designed to cut through cooking grease, which can also damage paint...
If I had to go with shampoo I'd use a car specific one
