Well fingers crossed the taxman will be crossing my palm very soon so i took the Z to a few bodyshops this week for a quote , just stonechips & the lower part kerb scuffs .
£270 main insurance repair shop close by
£150 ex Rolls Royce paint shop guy set up alone 15 years ago ( full booth facilities )
& £150 at a back street guy recommended by a pal
How does this compare with any already done ?

Ok mine is in the paint shop now having both wings resprayed full booth £250 which i thought was a good price we will see when i pick it up

I paid £150, v good job...until 2 weeks later the MOT station drove it into their ramp stops.

so now they're paying £180....not even a stone chip on it! so your prices aren't far out.

The middle quote of mine did suggest the whole front end , he wants £400 for that which is tempting me but then again it is vanity as the car is not really in need of the front end doing :? tough call

Where did you take it?

I plan to spend a lifetime with touchup paint to remove all the stone chips on my car...
summer + student + self employment which doesn't take more then a few hours a day = plenty of time for tedious touchups

I managed to scrape my bumper on a stupidly high curb / randomly placed metal column whilst driving out of a carpark today. Really annoyed as the damage is quite bad and has scraped away at the plastic on my front bumper (driver side); see below.

Thinking about what to do / if its repairable. I don't want to have to replace the front bumper itself but I'm not good with these detail things, so not sure what the best approach is. Any advice is welcome. I'm thinking to take it to BMW next weekend but also worried its going to cost a fortune to get rid of the damage.

Pics below:

Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

It's not that bad at all - don't worry. :) easily repairable, shouldn't be much more than £200 at a friendly garage. BMW will charge more and just take it to their approved repairer so might be worth seeing if someone you know can reco a painter.

Thanks Simon... good to hear you don't think it's bad in some ways.. its the first bad thing I've done to the car and feel v bad / stupid about it. Can anyone recommend someone who'll do a stellar job in / around the Surrey / SW London area? Happy to travel around if need be..

Thats pretty minor! I cracked and split the front bumper on my car, and broke the underplastics... Total repair was £200 ish!

These things happen. These guys would be my choice - http://backontrackmotorsport.co.uk/
Lots of focus on Lotus at this place. Will send them a pic and get a quote though.

Have sent BMW Cooper Croydon and MStyle.co.uk a pic of the damage for a quote... any other suggestions welcome.
