Wash mitt

Post by pvr » Wed Dec 14, 2016 5:33 pm

I have a Portal Cable, but never used that on the cars that have been treated with the Protech protection layer in The Netherlands. It is all in the washing (and more importantly, the drying process - that causes more scratches than the washing). I do use the PC on the Audi, Abarth and will need to do so on the Golf as I have not done it on that one yet and it has micro scratches / swirls on the paint work (I did not buy it new, but second hand 20 years ago).

As I don't touch the car during the drying process, I can see the bits I have missed during the washing process (think window corners, door handles etc). If I had used a towel to dry it, I would have "smeared" those bits and caused damage. Now I just look at the missed bits and either re-wash those or leave them for the next time.

It's not a mitt but the Adam's Polishes ADM-10 Professional Car Wash Pad is great.

I had Cquartz protection applied in the Summer but still micro swirls have appeared. :(

Very valid points re: drying the bits missed with a towel.

Last question  ... What are your thoughts on PPF? I guess the ideal solution for those who cannot perfect the art of keeping black paint swirl free (i.e. me) but not cheap?

Looking forward to having a chat when the :driving: club finally meets up!!!

I've read these are very good, I also read about the g techniq mv2 wash mitt. Anyone have any experience? Seems good for the money. I normally use a megs lambs wool mit, but wonder how this microfibres one compares?

The micro fibre one is great, you just put it in the washing machine after each use and comes out clean again. Never had any issues with them over the 10 years I have been using them.

Four different colours, so I can use one each for Glass / Bodywork / Wheels / Engine.

+1  I have a couple of these and think they are superb ! Better than any mitt I have used. Very soft, hold lots of soapy water and last for ages. Recommended !

I went for an adams mitt in the end and should arrive tomorrow. Very good value and be interesting to see what it's like. The polished bliss one looks very much like the g techniq one except blue but does look good.
