Machine polish

Post by Smartbear » Sun Apr 02, 2017 4:50 pm

Hi, had a bit of a play today with my meguires da & ultimate compound polish with microfiber pads.
Car was pretty swirly up close & I think it's much improved after just a couple of hours-with a couple of days it would be much better.

Looking good there Mr bear  . I have just bought some Meguiars microfibre pads, correction compound and finishing wax. I have heard good reports about them, but never tried them before. I have previously used Hex logic pad's with good results, so interested to hear how you found the microfibre pads to work with.

I wish I could impart some expert analysis, but I'm just a beginner really!
I tried several different times with the meguires foam pads with little correction evident, I got the microfibre versions after reading that bmw clearcoat is very tough & they were recommended to have more "bite"
Definitely more effective imho, it still takes time though-all a result of visits to the car wash or careless hand washing I guess :(

Thanks Rob, the Hex Logic foam pad's which I've previously used took quite a few passes to achieve any impact as I too found the clear coat ito be very tough. Like you I am a novice and still learning. It will be a few weeks before I can actually put the microfibre pads to the test, but looking forward to seeing the results they will achieve, so will keep you posted

Great job Rob - I'm not brave enough to go down the machine polish route, think I will stick with the showroom shine / Mer wax / Topaz combo
