Noob Question

Post by Dr-Jon » Sun Jun 25, 2017 12:31 pm

I've been look at getting a machine polisher, but I'm totally confused:
Whats the difference between a DA polisher, assuming DA stands for Dual Action, is that correct?
and a DAS 6 polisher and what does DAS 6 stand for?
Thanks Guys & Gals

I've also been looking at machine polishers. The more I look the bigger the headache I'm getting :| The Ultimate Finish website has a good explanation of the types. DA definetly stands for dual action . It's my understanding DAS 6 is just a model of a dual action polisher and supposed to be a good choice for beginners. However I've no idea what DAS stands for. I was considering the DAS 6 pro plus. Hopefully someone will come along and assist us :?

OK Ill have a go at answering your question

Have a look here which explains the difference between the two most common types of polisher, the rotary and the DA https://www.detailingwiki.org/correctio ... isher-job/.

The DAS 6 is simply a make of polisher and is the most commonly found. There are 3 types of DAS sold : DAS 6, DAS 6 Pro and DAS 6 Pro Plus. The DAS 6 is the Base model, the Pro has a more powerful motor and a longer cable, whilst the Pro Plus ha's a bigger throw or orbit. This means it can polish a larger area in a shorter time. The downside being it can't work on smaller areas of your car.

Hope this helps. If you want to find out more have a look on detailing world, although it can be a slippery slope :D

If you're a newbie to polishing then the Das 6 pro is a good place to start. Give the guys at clean you car a call....they're very helpful and will set you in the right direction with a starter kit.

You'll basically need a 2 good sized buckets and grit guards, a lambswool washmitt, a bilthammer clay bar, detailer spray (any), some 3m tape, Das 6 pro, megs 105 and 205, then wax and sealant to complete the job

Ill take a guess at most of what DAS 6 stands for.
DA = Dual Action
S = No idea, maybe Sport :lol:
6 = Diameter of polishing area or size of disk??
