Coming back to the fold...too
Well after almost 3 years of Mercedes Benz motoring, after some research and the compulsory test driving I have decided on going BMW again. I had narrowed the choice down between the following: -
Audi TT Convertible, 2.0 TFSI, Quattro convertible
Audi S3 Convertible
BMW M235i Convertible
BMW 435d xdrive convertible
I managed to test drive 3 of the 4, the S3 being rather allusive, but did manage to get hold of 435d (not to many of these to drive either). Loved the noise of the M235i, loved the agility of the TT, but didn't like the Google map satellite navigation in the drivers pinnacle, did I say how intoxicating that engine is in the M235i. The TT is a lovely car, comfortable, fast and is actually an enjoyable car to drive probably more so than the M235i. The problem I have with both these cars is the expense, with options £44k and for me, I want something more than that for that kind of cash.
So the 435d xdrive, it's heavy, but doesn't feel that heavy not like the Merc and it handles significantly better, the sport seats are very comfortable and supportive. The thing I like about the Merc is it's torque, for overtaking it's a weapon only let down by the 7 speed auto which is ponderously slow, but there is so much torque that puling out of a junction is a two stage affair, ease it out and once your going accelerate. The 435d has more torque but managed by the 4 wheel drive, and I think that was the clincher for me.
So here it is, delivery in mid November, options include Harman kardon surround, adaptive suspension, saddle brown leather, model deletion, professional satellite navigation and wind deflector.
and £9k discount

Lovely car Sars - I do like the look of the new 3-series 'verts (typed that without thinking, I obviously still find it hard to think of them as 4-series)
