BMW - a company that makes family cars and the odd sports car.

Porsche - a company that makes sports cars and the odd family car.

I love my Zed for what it is but come on guys!

Just to throw my totally skewed tuppence worth into the pot....

I was fortunate enough to be thrown the keys to 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 by the owner at a Goodwood trackday with the words 'come on then let's see what you can do'. Dear Lord what an absolutely phenomenal car. They say don't meet your heroes - it's true - It was better than I could have possibly hoped for, and now I want one ridiculously badly!! 156mph down the Lavant straight was quite a feeling, as was turning into fordwater at 130mph....

Appreciate my zed is not the full M, but even in the current spec it just felt so imprecise by comparison. Once you're dialled into how to drive a 911 fast it's utterly intuitive and hugely rewarding, it gives you huge confidence to start hunting for time into braking zone's and on corner exit....

Anyway ill stop my lovestruck rant; summary is the Porsche is a wonderful thing to drive fast in a way that the zed can't manage. The Ms even for the price point are a cracking car and I adore them but for me a 911 with the right spec suspension and engine would be the go-to car without a shadow of a doubt...

The 987 is a very capable car. It has a raw feel, great feedback to the driver and has a very nice composed ride for a sports roadster. Down side It as some 'quirkiness' in the roof department and electrics.
The precision handling and ride on the 981 has to be experienced. Its a a lot less raw feeling though. That flat in its final format with PSE is just epic.
The equipment level, fit and finish has also taken a massive step forward............. no quirkiness detected so far
