i8 plans dead. Now what?

Post by Zed Five » Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:22 pm

For God's sake! Despite a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty on an i8, the battery is only warrantied to 100k miles. That's pure crap. What's the point in that?

At the moment, unless I can negotiate a better deal, i'm out. Grrr, of frustration with bmw! :x

You're planning on putting more than 100k in 3 years on an i8? :o

Shame, I do like them, especially the CS although it’ll be a bit pricey.

I can get an almost new one for under 70k. A 911 is more than this, but very dull. I really use my cars so depreciation is a fact of life, covered by a good car allowance. :)

yes. 100k miles plus :D

Good car, but still not allowing my boat to float. I've even considered a used lambo, but that really would be very silly as a daily commuter. I8 seemed the best daft choice.

Fair enough! That's some mileage :)
It's one of my concerns with electric cars, what do you do when the batteries inevitably die? Is there any way to replace them on the i8?
To be fair I know someone who's had one of those lexus offroad hybrid things for 8 years or so and it's still going strong.

Yes, battery can be changed. For example, it could be faulty or defective under warranty.

I think that i need so pull out all of my typical dealer levers to get some deal on the battery. No rush, but the car change bug has definetely been awakened.

From what I know the battery isn’t that big anyway, so even if it did need replacing then it wouldn’t be the end of the world? Unlike breaking a used Lambo
