Show us your....Japanese Cars

Post by inkey$ » Wed Jul 23, 2014 8:18 am

Inspired by a recent conversation with LeeZ4MR, know there are a few lovers [and haters!] of Japanese metal on this forum. So, show us your past or present wheels in this thread.

First up, my old 1996 Nissan 100 NX Pacific: 1.6i of targa roofed quirkiness. I got through 3 alternators in 4 years of ownership and to this day never owned a car that had so many people tell me how much they liked it or ask me what it was. Nicknamed 'The Egg' in NX circles, she is currently living out her retirement with my brother back in Suffolk.

I always wanted either a CRX, Mk1 Celica Supra or a gullwing doored Toyota Sera.

Edit: how could I have forgotten my adoration for an AE86?!

Here is my old Nissan QX 3.0 SEL V6 Auto just after it's final wash before I sold it in January 2009 (poor picture). I bought it in February 2001 for peanuts from Nissan at 11 months old and 2,300 miles on the clock. The requirement at the time was for a roomy and comfortable workhorse for the family. I immediately had it converted to LPG and over the next 8 years did 151,000 pleasurable and trouble-free miles. It was running beautifully and looked like a low mileage car when I sold it (even the drivers seat looked perfect!) - got a good price for it too. Not the best car in it's class but a good all-rounder with surprisingly good handling for a big car.

Great thread  My first car was an E36 but apart from that and the zed, all my cars have been japanese.

First there was a Celica T Sport in Storm Blue, lovely colour. Modified it a little bit. Still miss this car. The 190bhp VVTLi engine is under rated in my opinion as it offers VTEC fun and has great economy too. I keep toying with the idea of buying another one of these as they are so cheap nowadays.

Thrashing the engine eventually got a bit tiring so I started lusting after turbo power and wanted to tick a childhood dream car off the list, so sold the celica and purchased a blobeye impreza WRX with PPP pack with 265bhp. Loved driving it but not a beautiful car to look at.
When i bought it:

When I sold it (only a couple of changes):

Along the way, I have also had a couple of MX5s:
A MK2 1.8iS:

A rare Eunos S-Ltd with Mines ECU:

My old MR2 N/A which I had a Turbo engine fitted to.

Then my old Lexus Soarer 2.5 Twin Turbo import. For its size it was a beast

Then my old Toyota Supra 3.0 Twin Turbo. This was a hand full. I wish I still had this car.

Still can't think to part with my ep3 daily driver that I've had since new. Still going strong at 120k miles.

The mark one supra brings back memories, wow, just been transported back into pre-teen headspace :)
