I had an 88 GTE Exclusive coupe for a while 20 years ago, I think you would find it very underwhelming nowadays.

Manta 400 possibly a different story :driving:

That'd because some were sh1te and some, like the Lancia Beta, turned into a pile of red dust ten minutes after they got wet...

I'm sure your right, but that could be said about a lot of old cars.

Part of the charm.

The Golf I have is 23 years old now, but the drive is great (no power steering, no power basically  ). Very different road experience and you generally get a lot of respect from others 8)

You're misinterpreting looks of pity as looks of respect... :poke:

I suppose that's true. It was very tail happy :D

One car I always wanted but never got round to getting was a VW beach buggy. Still fancy one now but nowhere to keep it.

I had the Vauxhall version in the very early eighties - loved it to bits, but it was pretty poor in hindsight

Didn't hanker after a Manta when they were new and I certainly don't now. The Nissan pulsar on the other hand. Each to their own as they say.

obewan, Snap!

I had a 1979 light metallic blue Cavalier Sportshatch in 1986 (to replace my Capri Injection that was sold to fund my first house)! :(

It had an after-market glass sunroof that leaked, so on frosty mornings the seat and carpet were crispy! Plus the windscreen had ice on the inside (that's how I got my first points)! To be fair the car was good, I just didn't get a good example. With the autochoke it either idled at nearly 2,000 rpm when cold, or you could tap the accelerator to turn it off but then it just stalled! But it definitely drove better than a 2 litre Capri, and I quite fancied a Manta GT/E.

But after a couple of years saving and doing overtime I got another Capri Injection which was so much better! But I'll never have another Capri looking at what they sell for now! I'd rather keep my E86 thanks!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black
