So i'm leaving Z4 ownership after 2.5 years of trouble free motoring. I'll miss the old girl.

However the time has come to change up, so i'm collecting my new (to me) 2010 TT-RS S-tronic up next Wednesday :).

The sound of that 5 pot engine, combined with the performance and 4wd really sold it to me.

I'll grab some photos upon pick up.

Please make sure the gearbox is okay before you buy! To do this make sure you get the car up to temp and then engage drive or reverse and see if the gearbox is jerky. It's a common problem on those boxes. Mechatronic I believe and will cost over 2k to fix. I had Audis and they all gave me problems unfortunately :x hence I'm reluctant to buy again.

Cheers for all the comments, it's definitely not as much a drivers car as the Z4 in terms of feedback but even on the test drive it got a lot of looks :)

Yes this is a common issue with the S-tronic box as you say, this is why I have a 15 month warranty included from Stratstone, after which i'll be going through Audi extended warranty.

There were none of the symptoms (i've been researching a lot on TTforum.co.uk) mentioned but it's something to be warey of. The manuals are even worse, eating through 1st and 2nd gear synchros like tyres :|

Very nice cars. Nearly pulled the trigger on a sepang myself.

Thought the 7speed s-tronic was pretty solid compared to the 6 speed in the rest of the TT range.

Suppose you won't ever know how many launches have been done

Really like these and had a TTS and it was a good all round car, the RS should be cracking with its performance and characterful engine.

When tuned the RS is an absolute flying machine, enjoy it  :driving:

Performance and interior quality it's a massive change up from a Z4 for sure, the Z4 does offer a more raw driving experience though.

The TT is more of a point and squirt type of car, and the launch control is fun too. :D

Trying to do a quick gear change in a Z4M from first to second is frustrating and massively annoying. :P

Great choice, as you say not as involving as a Z4 but makes up in other areas. I test drove a manual RS at a main dealer a few months ago and thought the engine was epic, it makes the car. When they said they couldn't do a pcp deal on it I realised I couldn't afford it and went away with my tail between my legs. But hey ho, still got the coupe :D

Cheers for all the positive feedback, I didn't think they'd be as highly regarded on here as they seem to be :)

I'll be happy to give a warts and all review on the short term ownership mate :)

I never said an upgrade did I?

Though performance wise it certainly is

Cheers :driving:

I was originally going to go for a TTS but it wouldn't have THAT 5 pot noise, and the performance wouldn't be much better than the Z4 it's replacing.

The RS should be a very capable machine, i'm not a great driver anyway so feedback is lost on me

Cheers matey  :driving:

Yeah the build seems an upgrade over the Zed but only time will tell if it treats me as well as the Zed did, i'll certainly miss that car :(

I'm sure the right one will turn up for you before too long so best of luck bud

Hoping to attend some Z4 meets and drive outs if the RS is still welcome :|
