Renault 5gt was quick but still French
Peugeot 205 gti, 1.6 or 1.9? A mate had the 1.6 which felt quick although the speedometer was always bouncing! Again, French!
Lancia, well a mate of mine still has one, although it's not seen daylight for years, personally I think it's agoraphobic. Good looking car indeed, probably the best of the bunch.
As for the cosworth, that's the only car I've driven and I was surprised how quick it was as well as being easy to drive normally. Looks dated now.
3.0si roadster. Requisite stubby. Sound gen mod. LED numberplate lights. LED boot strip. Interior lights LED too. ZHP gearknob. Daily drive :driving:
Motor in boot. Bilstein B8 dampers. New radio, much better sounds

I've owned a renault 5, and a pug 306 (2 actually). I think i'd be picking the 205 GTI, i have driven a few and was a nice thing to enjoy.

I have always had a desire to buy an old golf though, and rice it up a bit :D

Cossie for me, but I also think none are "classics" I had a Cossie for around 4 weeks back in the day, before it was stolen, never to be seen again :x

Back in 1997 I had a 205 Gti 1.9, loved that car, like a rocket on rails, but mine didn't have PAS, and was a bitch to park because of it! D616 YRN looks like it's rusted away.

Had a 5 Gt Turbo when I was 19, or was only 10 years old, but rotten as hell and liked to overheat.

Still miss my Uno Turbo 1990 so it'll have to be that. Christ that was fast.. in a straight line! In the bends the steering was just too slow for the likes of 205GTI. But it was probably the quickest 0-60 small hatch GTI's back then. And bulletproof engine!

I had the 1st 3 on the list my 1.9 205 was my favourite but would love a mk1 golf or a caddy gti nowadays.

For me it has to be the Intergrale such a good looking motor especially in the metallic blue

If it's the 16v Golf GTI mk2, then that. I had one from 2000-2005 and did 75k in it. Brilliant car, the feel and balance were superb.

The next Golf GTI that was any good was the mk5. I had two of these, and with a REVO stage 1 adjustable remap set at Aggressive boost, throttle and timing to give them the power they should have had when leaving Wolfsburg, these are a sublime drive. Another future classic. I'd have another in a heartbeat if I was allowed a third car!!!!

When I was at college 20 odd years ago I was mates with the guys who run the Zagato Lancia garage in Marylebone. A lot of the cars were tuned to 350 bhp and the same in torque.I remember being 5 up in one whilst out with the lads, I'd little experience of cars at the time but it felt mightily fast and the grip was unbelievable. The tyres never made a sound, it was all traction. So it would have to be the Lancia for me

All too new for me. Has to be straight 6, front engine, rear wheel drive, manual gears, allround independent suspension, disks. So that means, if we talk UK cars:- Jag E type, Triumph TR6, GT6 or ?
