The Z4 got a baby brother

Post by williamdefender » Sun Apr 09, 2017 10:54 am

Ive been on the look out lately for a z3 for my dad who is always admiring my z4 . Acquired a lovely one yesterday and must say I'm quite impressed with the drive even though its a 1.9 . Gear change was silky smooth and it pulled well though all the gears . My Dad is 78 and he's getting on like a child at christmas . Paid £1900 for this one owner 70k miles with hardtop included . Smashing looking rust free car which i believe can only go up in price .

Nice looking car and good price, a lot of car for the money. Is that the 140bhp version ? Like our Z4's it will need lots of ongoing maintenance and little fixes but no depreciation. Happy days !! :D

Not sure of the bhp but its enough for him . Drives like a racing go-kart though . Hopefully get classic insurance sorted and we will be back together at the car shows again . Must have viewed six of them and sills seem to be the big issue . had almost gave up my search when this came along , great to see my Dad smiling :)

What a great gift. Goes to show the little boy never really leaves you no matter how old you get. Enjoy.

Looks a nice example and a prefacelift with the twin cam 140bhp engine, the facelift which I had BMW changed the engine to an 8V single cam 118bhp engine in April 99. Unsure why BMW went a little backwards engine wise although I found it very smooth and nippy for a 4cyl so long as you used the revs. Mines been gone 6 weeks now, I'm missing the looks and just because it was a Z3, I don't miss the ride so much now though which felt archaic looking back harking back to the 80s and the stooping down to get in it  The front and rear of the sills can start to rust badly as a bit of a mud trap but no rust is a sign of a cared for car.

They're good cars to tinker with.

Tim.

Great car, I had one in the same colour and engine size, its the classic 007 one and I still keep a model of one as a reminder.
Hope your Dad enjoys, getting in and out was my only problem.
