Hardly a nice looking car :o little to distinguish from its 118d sisters & being blunt the 1 has never been a looker on any year with only the 1M coupe ever looking remotely fetching  even then its no Cayman but can be gotten over with its overall package
Each to their own but the deal sum's it up for me £199 a month is Nissan Qashqai money which also have zero temptation whatsoever
drive one- you'll think differently ;)
Got a 360bhp Golf ED30 on drive at the mo if i want to take off like a epileptic mongoose that cost a fraction of the 140i & will hold or increase its value
As we've discussed vag stuff is dead behind the eyes innit. Trust me for 200 squid a month if you've not really got a clue about cars and you want to drive a car fast they are quite enjoyable to drive. In a straight line anyhow :p

Yes Mr Wilks doesn't like suped up 1ers, anyways lets move on

Very little that can touch the M140i it really is a superb alrounder and looks are in the eye of the beholder, I guess the same people said the same for the Z3M coupe and 20 years later lament them.

I'm not keen on the LCI2 though, the minor tweeks have spoilt it somewhat and the shadow edition is BMW trying to appeal in the boy racer in us and to bring out an end of line edition. A real shame it will be consigned to history next year :(

I wonder if this will go the same way as the M135i?

Remember all the mags/journos saying how great it was, and then later saying it wasn't that good after all and we'd misinterpreted their reviews...and then all the moaners on Pistonheads were stuck with a lease on a car that stopped exciting them after a couple of months :fuelfire:

Worth it for the engine alone, the others simply trail it in that Dept and the A45 and S3 are simply pulling your pants down for what they cost new in comparison.

Given the competition, I think this is probably where I'd put my money. Sure, a golf R is more capable, the S3 better built and a Renaultsport megane will be more engaging, but as a daily I think these make a lot of sense. A thumping straight six, decent blend of tech and driver focus and rwd for those 'moments'. I also really like the way they look but can appreciate they're an aquired taste.

Agree and while I'm not an admirer of the rather bland looks of the 1 series, we're a biased forum being owners of 2 seater sports cars.
We have a 1 series on the drive and it's a great piece of kit to carry 5, capacity of an estate car and reasonable performance even in lowly 116 guise.
If I were in the market and wanted a quick, car capable of moving people or family person moving from performance 2 doors to need space, I can see the attraction. PCP just defers the costs and lets the buyer 'out' in 2 years
Jaguar F-Type 3.0 Supercharged V6 S, Stratus Grey, LSD, Active Exhaust, CF wheels, Performance brakes, Sports seats and mods ongoing
Gone but not forgotten Z4 3.0i SE Roadster ///M front, Red ///M leather seats, Aero sills

For less than a tenner a day (ex vat) I still think that's one of the bargains of the century - I mean if you bought one, then it's lose a lot more than £6999 in two years, in fact it's probably lose that much as soon as you drove it away from the showroom!

Interesting that on the website the 140i deals are nothing like that mailshot of £199 so highly likely it was either a one off or a fake deal to lure punters in . all the deals are minimum 6months down & majority are 36 months term at £300 a pop so approx £13k to drive for 3 years & handback ?
Fair enough if that floats your boat  id rather put my £13k into a Mroady & after 3 years still have either the car or my cash

Think its a bargain if you want to do the new car thing for 3 years....

You still end up owning a 1 series for 3 years for £8600,which in figures seems a bit crap.

It's a two year deal for about £8400 incl vat which is cheap for one of those deals, but still a lot of money
