Totally agree, it's a car I would buy with my own money, if I could afford it (I'm anti depreciation). It's been the only car in years that has made me play around with a configurator online to see what the payments would work out to be. 8)

I'm hopefully getting a 'stang in stock next month, can't wait as I'll get to hoon about in it for a couple of weeks :driving: They're far from rare around here, I see about 3-5 daily at the moment.

But having had one for a weekend - absolutely don't care. They're frikkin awesome cars. Shouty v8, powerful, lardy and a little unruly. The same reason I'm loving my ford xr8 at the moment, just simple snarly power that in all fairness probably feels/sounds faster than it actually is. The typical modern ford electronics make it a nice enough place to be too.

The entertainment and build quality makes it a nice package for the money, they've got the sort of laugh out loud lariness that you just don't get with most euro cars and I love the muscle car looks. do it. Plus, if it didn't prove quick enough, throw up to some cash at a blower kit and unlock 600bhp or so. super snake style. :D

I know what you mean about depreciation - before I became a Z4 owner I had a 123d that I bought as a pre-reg and kept for 6 and a half years, losing £16K in the process! It was OK when I was getting a car allowance!

Still I'm not sure depreciation is such an issue with a Mustang, but sadly I don't have the income any more. :( (But then I don't commute either).

That would be a tough choice, very different cars both equally awesome but in different ways. :( I miss uk car prices, GTRs outprice the Mustangs by a solid $30k here :(

I like both choices and would love to have a muscle car. As I'm sure you have seen, the new model has ripped round the nurb rung pretty fast this year!!!

My brother has one. Only a 2.3, but just sitting in it on the driveway, it feels special.

It also gets loads of looks every time you drive it.

Downsides are it feels like a big car and is quite scary trying to maneuver through rush hour traffic.

I know, it's marginally smaller than a 5 series!

R8 not as cheap, trust me I've looked - plus it's servicing a very different car, limited storage, or space....

Also a little concerned turning up to pitch for projects looking like a flash alec, or quite literally a cowboy

Think the new stang is modern enough to not look like 'the horse you rode in on'

Go for it, I think it'll be brilliant fun and from some time spent on YouTube with a few basic tweaks they can be quite a bit quicker with a gorgeous sound to match 8)

Not a big fan of Mustangs, wouldn't mind a Boss 302 for sentimental reasons only, plus they were the only model that had a reasonable suspension and was built to race around left and right turns.
If you want one, get one. Anything that has good resale values has to be decent...

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but curious to know how our GTR prices compare with Aussie as we have had Jap imports for many years now.
Check this page of GTR's for sale - not sure if they'll show highest price to lowest, but you can tweak the display to suit.

Obviously, prices are in NZD (Pacific Pesos.. ) so take about 10% off to show cost in AUD. (or take about 45-50% off for £ if anyone else is remotely interested).

Back on topic, there are a lot of these new Mustangs around here for some reason (probably because they look great, sound great, and aren't supercar expensive), although if you want a 'real' muscle car, I think the more adventurous are choosing a Challenger instead (although still LHD :( ).

Crikey, looks like you get it a bit better than us over there, I'd expect to pay 85k-100k for an early GTR whereas looks like you have a few for 60! (in non pacific pesos :P) I almost bought a 2011 in 2013ish for $115k which I'd expect to sell for around 85 now. I think here they will bottom out around the 60k mark in time to come but are a way off that just now.
