Got my car back....drives so nice now

Post by Leesfarm07 » Wed Jul 01, 2015 12:33 am

Just got the car back having had a new clutch, dual mass flywheel, oil service, cd valve removal and four Michelin PS3'S. ...blimey cost a small fortune but what a difference. I never believed changing to non run flats would have such an effect. Thank you Pete at Autotech Telford for all your excellent work
Such a lovely car to drive again

thought the same thing. especially seeing as though the z4 was my first car. experienced getting new tires after driving worn out rubber and experiencing driving without runflats for the first time, both experiences at the same time. it was like night and day! try not to enjoy it too much! just might end up costing you another small fortune. :driving:

We have a particularly bad tramlined road by us and before the tyre change the car would skip from one lane to another....now it's smooth as silk :D

Hello LF07

I'll be up for a new clutch and DMF sometime this year. you totally happy with Autotechs work? Will £1k cover this work?

Hi Lance
The clutch supplied and fitted came in at £485.00 . Unfortunately I needed a DMF which was another (part costs) £400.00 + vat so you won't be far off at 1k. Pete is a great very knowledgeable chap and has a beautiful clean workshop full of fabulous cars

I was amazed at the difference. I chose the pilot sport 3's as I'm a big Michelin fan. Haven't a clue how long they'll last but it's not a daily driver

As well as the twitchiness it was the crashing over bumps that felt awful....I know it's constantly documented on here so I was dying to ditch mine but because they had plenty of tread I left it longer than I wanted to

My RFT have plenty of thread left as well and I am in that situation where I am arguing with myself to either keep them for a bit longer or just get rid of them as they not worth anything, I was supposed to change them last week but changed my mind lat minute and will stick with them till August.

My runflats are maybe a third worn at best but so many people say changing them transforms the Z4 that I'm suprised I've waited this long.

What do people do when they change to non-RFTs? Carry around a can of the tyre gunk, buy the BMW assistance kit (that M cars have)? Just curious...

Also, what risk, if any, would there be in running non-RFTs on the rear but RFTs on the front? Same tyre type per axle, just different on driving wheels compared to front...

I'm sure you could sell them if they have tread left, even if it's only £10 a tyre I'm sure someone would have them.
