Who did everyone go with to provide the extended warranty? Is there a standard provider that BMW use?

Get your claims in ASAP since the 3 year warranty is more inclusive than the extended one and wont cover such things as wheels etc....

I went with BMW direct, least vauge - they use Mondial assistance

Mondial huh? Re the wheels, I have the car booked in on the 10th to sort them, just a shame they won't do all four, but the only thing wrong the front two is the nearside one has some kerbing. Will get the front two refurbed to the same colour as the rears once replaced.

Only thing I have to bear in mind is that the dealer will probably suggest I replace the rear tyres at the same time as they're getting ready. Just don't want run flats on again and I bet they won't put normal ones on.

If you can afford it get the BMW one. I'm into my second year with it and its been worth every penny.

Up until this week i'd say i've had slightly more back than i've paid in, todays was a biggy unfortunately so i'm probably quite far in front now.

I pay for the fully comp policy along with breakdown cover with a £100 excess.

The service from the dealer and warranty people has been superb and based on my experiences today i'm 99% certain my next car will be another BMW.

This might be of interest to people too but when i went and asked my friends in Trading Standards about third party warranties they cracked out laughing and said "they're not worth the paper they're written on". They did say if i had the chance to extend the manufacturers one then i should do that.

Hope that helps :)

Took it out on mine, though don't just take out the standard ask some questions. I ended up with the comprehensive package minus the recovery option as I'm already in the RAC for £324, original quote from BMW was nearer £500

SpaceCoyote, BMW contact you about a month before its due.

Never take them out, but I'm reasonably mechanically competent, so can fix most things.

Had I taken one on the Zed I would be well out of pocket as the only warranty type fixes in 3 years ownership would have been trivial or not covered by excesses.

Don't forget most are insurance company backed so on average the cost of repairs will be less than half the cost of the policy allowing for theirs costs and profits  Of course fear factor of worrying about the engine falling out is worht it to some.

Don't count on it... If you hear nothing and it's about to expire, contact them

Well in pocket with mine, and just renewed it for next year.
So far springs, problem with radio have been done. It's in shortly to have failed roof motor fixed, and given that recently the ESP warning lights have been coming on intermittently I'm guessing it'll have to go in again before too much longer.. :(
IME a Z4 with no warranty would not be a happy situation..

I got no reminder either. I did not even bother contacting them as for an M it would be prohibitively expensive.

Out of pocket by £600 so far on my extended warranty but I'm not complaining because that means my 'M' has been faultless for the last two years (touches wood, crosses fingers etc) :)
