Z4 Clear Windblocker Windscreen

Hi guy. I was wondering if anyone has brought this wind defector and what there views are on it. Is it easy to fit etc…
I think it looks a good option as you can leave it in place all the time roof up or down.

Some time ago a few people said they really liked this. One or two guys even made their own. I'd love to have it but for me that is way too much money to spend on a wind deflector when I have one already.

I took mine out for the winter to improve visibility.

Those who have fitted them do speak highly of them and they have the advantage over the mesh design which I have of being transparent.

The big downside is that on reading the technical information in David Lightfoots's BMW Z4 Design and Production book that the pressure compensation between interior and air flowing around was critical. This translates down to the mesh being vastly superior to a glass screen in providing a draft free drive. Even the small solid inserts in the hoops are critical (another source)

One of the reasons I've not cut the mesh out of mine and replaced it.

Well I built my own and I have to say that it was easy. I keep it on all the time. The top goes up and down without problem and does not hit the deflector or drag on it. I have not noticed any problems seeing out of the rear window at all. Without it the wind was bad enough that my wife would not ride with me without a hat on which she does not like doing. There is still some air movement even at high speed, but nowhere like it was without it. It can be built for less than $50.00 and the parts can be purchased from most home supply stores. Here is a photo of mine.The photo is not too good; there are no smudges or marks on it. I have had it up over 100 MPH and it was stable. You can build it with simple had tools nothing special.

Thanks for the reply’s guys. Take your points on board. At the min I don’t have a wind deflector at all, so cost dose not bother me too much as I have to get one any way, like waZZZZman the misses has said its too windy

. I just want the best one for the job and I don’t like the pull over one.

Agree the pull over one is a poor looking product.

Just down to preference on mesh or clear. The OEM clip in mesh one is neat and stores in a pair of clips on the inside of the trunk/bootlid when not needed. Might be worth pricing both sorts up.

Like others on this forum, i also have the bmw mesh one. I havent had a problem with it, in fact its so easy to remove you can do it with the roof up, and as Jeeper said, it clips in the boot lid when not needed. And yes, it does make a huge difference when installed with the roof down, limits buffering inside the cabin.

The OEM clip on one belongs in a Ann Summers shop, not on a Z4, OEM mesh all the way.

Easy to fit, but you will need new rollover bar covers as they are different, and most probably break upon removal.

Easy to fit, but you will need new rollover bar covers as they are different, and most probably break upon removal.

I would defo break if I removed them I have 0 patience :x . Dont supose their cheep either. :thumbsdown:

I bought the clear one from roadster solutions that you pictured. Works great and install was a cinch. As others have said there is still some draft in the cabin but it isn't bad, nothing like it is regularly. Top goes up & down with zero snagging on the wind deflector.

I bought one of these off another member on another forum and I have to say it's lots better than the standard windblocker you can get. Easy enough to install although I had some problems taking the hoops apart to replace the mesh slots with the plastic ones. Aside from that, it's a doddle to install and is a lot easier to see out of the rear window now that it's clear plastic.

Think I am leaning towards the clear one. Are the hoops easy to take off, do you need to fit different ones like the OEM one and does it come with instructions to take off the hoops?
P.S Does any one know if there is anyone in the uk who stock it.

Luckily i got mine with the car, i thought it was factory standard? Stows inside the boot/trunk in the normal way and clips in and out in seconds.

If you get the clear one from roadster solutions there is no dismantling of the roll hoops. Everything is attached with speed tape.

Looks nice. I have the mesh one, does anyone know if there is a wrong way and a right way round to fit the mesh one? Or does it just work whichever way round you fit it?

:| dosen't sound to healthy, can those speed tape reliable, if i doing high speed on the highway will it blew off?
am looking for one, prepare myself for the summer
