How to make the n52 exhaust pop and crackle more?
So I have the DLV exhaust mod which I love! (Thanks again mike)
I know modern turbo cars have lots of popping and cracking and as our cars are n/a it's a different kettle of fish, but would I be right in thinking that removing the front silencer/resonator it will make the car pop more?
Has anyone got any experience of this?

Yes, it will give you more "snap" to the exhaust. I've removed the internals of my secondary cats, and mine really "snarls" now

My advice is NOT to replace the existing small silencer with straight through pipes, but to remove it, cut the top off and weld pipes internally before refitting it, that way the car still looks standard underneath, and won't raise an MOT inspector or future purchaser's eyebrows. Looking at £150 all in I reckon.RyanB88 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2017 11:07 amI'm currently buying a house so cash is a bit sparse at the moment , but how much do you charge for this Mike? To get the full PSE/F-type effect you really need a custom map and some more money for fuel.

Are you straight piped all the way through from the Cats then.... Any issues with MOT at all?
My front silencer was removed as part of the system I got installed but the back box isn't the loudest, tempted to get that replaced too but wasn't sure on 'legalities' around the exhaust system.

AFAIK, if the sec cats appear to be missing, and the MOT tester knows his stuff, it's a fail. That's why I remove them, gut them and replace, so it looks standard.Chris1981 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 3:03 pmAre you straight piped all the way through from the Cats then.... Any issues with MOT at all?

All I've had done is backbox chopped off and straight through pipes put in. The cats are still in and exhaust has had no other mods.Chris1981 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 3:03 pmAre you straight piped all the way through from the Cats then.... Any issues with MOT at all?

Not sure on legalities tbf, mot test is a bit.. flaky on that, because delete only makes the car louder and doesn't mess with emissions etc but one of the mot fail points is "louder than standard" but I'm not sure how they'd measure it so we'll see in the MOT day. Doubt that it'll be a problem.

Cheers Mike... if I could reverse my decision on a custom SS system I'd take you up on that service, £500 down and doesn't sound as good as your modded back box! Not sure my back box would stand up to being cut open and resealed...

Mine pops and bangs like mad now I've removed the rear back box. If I change gear nearer the red line you get gunshot like bangs almost feels like my old TVR
