Spax are notoriously unreliable and seldom do anything under warranty. Save yourself a world of pain and go with some KWs. Spax are cheap for a reason.

I have them.
They are not the best. But they are adjustable and much better than standard. I haven’t had a problem with mine.
Although I am looking to change unless you get them mega cheap? Look to spend a little more if I where you.

You would be supprised! I have mine set soft on the road and it’s very comfortable. Many people set the coilovers and suspension far to hard! So the suspension can’t even work properly!

Thanks for the feedback. Why would coil over not offer a comfort and ride improvement? Does the standard layout do better then?
Having some damper adjustment was what attracted me, plus the cost.

Nonsense, you'd be surprised.
"Coilovers" can improve the ride assuming you buy some decent ones and set them up correctly. My friend's ohlins R&T sprung M3 rides like a rolls royce compared to stock for instance.
It's also worth pointing out that "coilovers" are physically essentially no different to the stock suspension setup apart from being able to adjust the ride height and damping. The rear is a separate coil and damper just like stock (so not sure why anyone calls it a coilover) and the fronts are essentially the same as stock apart from an adjustable spring perch. Far more accurate to refer to it as adjustable suspension.
That said, cheap crappy dampers and incorrect spring rates are likely to ruin the ride, buy cheap buy twice I think is very much the case with suspension stuff.

This is pretty much case and point, £695 for Spax or from what I've seen £1300 for the next brand up (KW 2's) KW 1's aren't adjustable iirc but still pretty good.TomK wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:40 pmNonsense, you'd be surprised.

Plus with a good set and if it comes to sell up time just swap out for the stock parts and you'll always sell a set of KW's, GAZ and Bilstiens for a good £5/600 afterwards. No one buying a 2nd set of Spax.

So are the KW 2 adjustable going to be a worth while improvement over a regular Bilstien kit ? Which would be quite a bit cheaper.

Sorry to highjack the post but do e85 Roadster coilovers fit e86 Coupe? I'm 99% sure they do as I'm fairly sure they are the same car underneath

If the z4 and e46s share the same components then might be worth while looking into meisterR. A good alternative to KW.
