Steering wheel now straight

Post by Johnbmwz4 » Sat Nov 18, 2017 5:21 pm

Hi , well today I took the steering wheel off again to see if I had put it on slightly out of line. I did put it on slightly wrong. I didn't line up the markers on the colomn and steering wheel hence wasn't straight . There are 2 locating studs on a plastic part under the steering wheel but fixed to the column but this moves around by an inch so these are no good to use as a guide to keep the wheel straight. I was only out by 2 or 3 lines on the shaft of the colomn but boy was it annoying not having the wheel totally straight. Any way all straight now and attached are a couple of photos of the plastic studs and the markers on the wheel and colomn.

Glad you got it sorted.
Never realised it would let you put it on wrong so to speak. Always assumed it wouldn't allow it.

You should have tagged this onto the bottom of your other thread and ended the story for future readers.

No you wouldn't have thought so hence why I just put the wheel back on without really checking anything. Anyway all sorted now so happy
