Does it make me odd that I test drove an e89 (think it was a 3.0) and I thought it was a bit soft and boring compared to my E85... was I doing something wrong?

If I was ever looking for an E89 I'd want a 30i or 35i just so I could have one with 3 pedals, but as you have an auto a 35is would probably suit you OK.

If you can do it and want to then just go for it - I think we only tend to regret the things we don't do!

This is as good a time of year as any - you may get a better deal on what you buy, but may get hit a bit on p/ex.

If you can do it, why not try selling on here first? It costs nothing, and you may do better that way.

Good luck anyway, and don't forget the photos if you do change. :)
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

I don't like the idea of the remap. I am all for tweaks to wheels and interiors but believe the engine should be left alone, as BMW designed it.
I wouldn't let that put you off, these 3 litre turbos are ripe for a few extra horses just ask Mr Wilks
True Marlon but then you gotta start explaining to Insurance Companies etc and it all gets very complicated.....
Not as bad as think buddy
Mines a phone call and free update to policy
Only engine mods do I get charged for:)

Just to complete this thread. I bought a 35is in the end. This one:

I originally only wanted to spend about £15k. But the extra £3k buys a lot more car. So I swallowed hard and bought it. I am really glad I did, I love it!
Gone :( : 2013 35is, Melbourne Red, DCT, Nav, Comfort pack
Gone: 2007 2.5is, Montego Blue, Auto, Nav

Something you might want to think about. Not sure when new Z4 will be launched, but 6 months after BMW launched the Gen 3 mini, the price of Gen 2 minis dropped considerably. I put it down to there being an abundance of Gen 2s for sale as individuals traded up. It may not work quite the same for zeds but worth bearing in mind.
Z4 3.0L 2005. Titan Silver. Audio Upgrade Second Stereo Pioneer X8700DAB, Sony Xplode 4 x 70W Amp, 6.5" Reckhorn Subs in rear cubby, Focal AS165-3 in fronts.
