Z4M Coupe V8 vs. Porsche RSR @ Nurburgring

Z4M Coupe V8 vs. Porsche RSR @ Nurburgring

Probably the best Z4 and 'Ring' video lap I've ever seen.

Should make you tingle as you see these guys sweep past all in their paths and look out for several in the barriers....

Takes a while to load and best on full screen and some sound

Was it a race or something? There were other slow-moving hatchbacks on the track. Z4M did it in 8 min 43 sec. Clarkson in S-Type Diesel did it in just under 10 min. Z4M could go faster if there were no other cars.

Nice vid, seems the Porsche had the legs on the straights but the Z4 had more corner speed and better brakes.

Pretty mad vid though - plenty of close shaves trying to pass the slower traffic, some of whom were clearly oblivious to what was catching them up, and that was just one lap!

VLN race... You get huge variations in class/performance of cars running in the field. The 24H is equally as insane, with a 997 RSR Porsche at the front (and winning last year), and the back being fielded by a Fiat 500!

Incidentally, that V8 in the Getrag Z4M isn't a BMW lump, but an old DTM Audi engine.

Nice, looks to me more like a Porsche 996 GT2 incarnation than an RSR. The yellow one early in the lap was a 997 RSR and it went off like a rocket!
2007 z4mc carbon black - gone but not forgotten.
Got a Touareg V6 TDI Altitude to lug the family around.
I'll get another garage queen next year some time!

Clarkson 10 min lap didn't include the grand prix part of the circuit! :driving:
