What to do with tyres?

Post by kis » Wed Jun 20, 2018 4:13 pm

Got a few tyres that are scrap and don't know the best way of disposing them? Local tip is £5 per tyre... anyone know if people take these for free? For landscaping or something?

My wife's nursery recently got a few and used them as planters in their garden.

It's getting ridiculous really. I've got a few quotes for just tyre removal and they're coming in at £10... minimum! Others have quoted more. WTF?!

I think I'll put them on gumtree... free to collect, blah blah. Otherwise maybe a mmm-five drive-by is on the cards :fuelfire:

Really? Do you still keep in touch with said people? I've got a few tyres they can keep in stock for their midnight antics!

Got a go kart circuit near you? They might be interested in taking them off your hands.

I’d also try ringing a few farmers, in my experience they’ll use anything for something. I think they often use tyres to put around horses food buckets to stop them knocking them over

Silage heaps on farms are often covered with polythene sheeting weighed down with hundreds of old tyres. Definitely worth seeing of a local farmer wants them.

Cut them into pieces with an angle grinder and thin cutting disc, then put them in your wheelie bin. Job jobbed.
