How many Z4s have over 100k miles
I noticed IMZ4Ns post with 150k miles on his previous 2003 Z4
I wonder how many Z4s have over 100k miles and any tips on getting to these high mileage figures

Re: How many Z4s have over 100k miles
As I do over 25,000 miles a year, I will soon rack up the miles, I thought it would be a good idea to keep the forum up to date with the mileage as it builds, notifying any problems or incidents during my tenure.
I would also be interested to know if there are any other members doing lots of miles and how they are finding the new Z4

Re: How many Z4s have over 100k miles
I'm doing well over 30k a year in it at present (not that i've had it a year yet, but working from what I've already done!)
I am going to hit the 100k mark sometime early may i think.

Re: How many Z4s have over 100k miles
My first to Z4s had done 95k and 90k when sold (The first one was sold in 2005 so it must be high mileage now, second sold in 2008).
Current one has around 55k - so i'm getting close to 250,000 Z4 miles!

Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?

IMZ4N has a friend (CoolZ4) with over 200k miles on his, but he's not as active on the forums (out driving, I guess).

At Homecoming 2008 CoolZ4 had more miles than anyone else on a Z4 that was there...

Re: How many Z4s have over 100k miles
Haven't seen that many z4's with that high milage..As it's not really the nature of the car. Many people have them as weekend car's and toys ..Mines got just over 70k And it's considered high milage in the z4 world..but for a 2003 3.0 bmw..it's average/below average.I've seen 330ci (Same engine ) with 200k... 530i E39 with 266k...Both use the same engine as my z4.So i presume there fairly strong lumps..
As tips for getting a car z4 to 100k ? i wouldn't say you need any tbh.. If you did minumum or hardly any servicing i would say the LEAST it would hit would be 100k..and i be very shock or surprised you had majour engine problems before that.

Re: How many Z4s have over 100k miles
I expect mine to be running fine at 100k miles, and at 150k miles, and onwards.
Just give it a service as suggested with good oils, maybe even more often (intermediates), do pre-emtive repairs when needed, and generally don't skimp, and it should be fine
Seems a good strong engine so I don't think you can go wrong unless it's abused.

If it is broke, fixit
At 100K have the diff and trans oil replaced, Lifetime fluids right
keep an eye on fluids and bushings and shocks--- bushings and shocks wear over time, you may not even notice it, I didn't
Use injector cleaner every 15 tanks or so
If you have a 03-05 you may want to do yourself a favor and replace the Vanos seals
Water pumps have not been an issue, the plastic reserve tank and the secondary thermostat on the bottom of that tank is the only coolant issue I had .
I will be interested to see how many cars have throttle body issues at about 120k, I did, CoolZ4 is on his second one.
Just my thoughts.

Re: How many Z4s have over 100k miles
I wonder if there is any truth to the rumor that Coolz4 wanted to protect his status as the highest mileage Z4 out here, so he was somehow involved in getting Imz4n's car eliminated as a serious competitor?
I am surely glad that IMZ4N and mrs imz4n are back on the road in the best car out there. And now that he has a newer 06, he can keep up with the rest of us!

My thoughts exactly. CoolZ4 does over 100 miles to and from work daily. I do not think he was worried about it. LOL

Wait wait wait... throttle body are common problems? Mine just went at 74k ... Car started up on day running terrible and runnig 2 cyclinders.. had it replaced.Run's fine now.Though they where having me on

So add me to the list lol
Had all my diff oils changed and my gearbox oil ... Engine oil was changed via BMW service 500 miles ago so i haven't bothered since they use fully syn oil in the z4 (surprisingly). But i've allready got my got my Full synthetic Silkolene Pro ready ...but 500 miles change is Excessive even for myself. But with my bikes and cars i do 6k for the car's...and 3k for my bikes.Allways Silkolene allways highest grade.Allways warmed up correctly..start...let warm until the idle settle's then drive under 2000rpm until water temp is halfway.
treat your car this way and it should last as long as 99.9% people on these forums will own it
