improved boot light

the single boot light is next to useless so i installed an led which was a great improvement but i found some "fairy" lights at fairylights forever on ebay. these come in a strip a foot long and can be stuck in anywhere, they do a fantastic job of illuminating the boot and cost £4 delivered, jsust wire them into the existing boot light

any pictures, i struggled the other night trying to find something in the dim light that was fitted as standard....

I did something similar to mine - fitted an Ebay LED strip next to the roof shelf which raises - and tucked the wire under the carpet/ plastic.

For a few £ is a worth while mod - especially as i tend to have jumpers/ shopping tucking into the sides to stop it rolling which totally covered up the stock light.

Did you buy the 15 or 30 LED strip?

Stuck using the 3m tape that came with it - Been fitted for a few weeks now and not fallen off (yet)!

Nice one aquazi, thanks for sharing.

Like the use of a 501 bulb plug - much easier that making your own :headbang:

Great mod, thanks Ace and Aquazi, gonna give that one a whirl myself.
Aquazi did you buy the 501 fitting or is it a 'modified' bulb?

I bought some led sidelight bulbs many years ago in my old car - being cheop ebay stuff they died after 6 months - so i kept the bulb holders as i thought they may come in handy!

Used some 7 or 8 gauage wire, stripped enough to bend it back up to make the connectors then soldered it to the ebay light strip.

Thanks. Looks like the soldering iron will have to come out of retirement! :sorcerer:

Did mine this evening using two 30cm strips. Lights all of the boot, left to right. I mounted them in a way that you cannot see the strip of light when standing, looking into the boot. (What you see is my compact spare and torque wrench). Really like the improvement. I shut all other lights when taking these pics with my Blackberry's camera.

Nice work powerontap

The only thing i dont like about mine is its a bit too blue for my liking - probably due to the black gel coating around it.... i would prefer more white - i may see if i can source a better strip or may attempt to make my own.
