3.0si DYNO TEST
Hello all.
So, I had a Longlife exhaust fitted to the car this week - from a dual to a quad. There felt to be no loss of power but thought I'd pop in for a dyno test today.
Here are the results;
Run 1; 242.3 bhp (engine) and 233.9lb ft of torque
I cant seem to load a picture of printout from my laptop, so will post from my iphone below
This converted to approx 210bhp at the wheels (?) but dont have the exact figure on the printout. The chap did say he thought there may be a problem with the MAF (air flow sensor) - I forget exactly why as he spoke in technical terms - but there were no fault codes coming up on diagnostics.
I dont drive recklessly, but the car still feels the same - and spirited driving against a 911, and recently beating a Mini JCW off the mark tells me the car is still rather quick..
To test the MAF I'm looking at well over £200 and personaly dont think it's faulty. Anyhow the car still feels quick, the quad exhaust now looks great, and the car itself (black coupe) looks stunning. Time to stop spending money and just enjoy driving.

He's the screen of mine for a comparison:
Mine prob could have been better if i had used super unleaded and had a clean air filter.. but oh well!
Your printout isnt big enough to be able to read!

How come you have 3 hp figures on there? Did they also give you a figure for wheel hp?

Those were the 3 runs it did.. so the last run had the best output.wills wrote:How come you have 3 hp figures on there? Did they also give you a figure for wheel hp?
I have a whp on the printout... but thats in my car and in another country from me at the moment!
I think the WHP was around 212... which stacks up to the estimated 17% that they use to calc the transmission loss on RWD.

Re: 3.0si DYNO TEST
I'll try and post a better pic later. Interesting to see the difference between your 3 runs - that's quite a margin..
Also does it matter which gear the run is done in? Mine was in 4th, but see many are done in 3rd..

Clean your MAF. It is relatively easy to do and has been covered many times on the forum. Cleaner fluid can be bought from Fleabay.
I did this on my old 3.0i which had travelled about 30k and certainly felt an improvement in throttle response thereafter. Also consider changing you air filter, again another easy DIY job.
Dynos are also prone to many variations such as age, outside temperatute, install so again these variations could also affect the result. No two dynos are the same, regardless of make.
How many miles had your car done?

I might sound daft in saying this but how is it a 3.0si doesn't come close to the 265?

Re: 3.0si DYNO TEST
yup im thinking the same too - big loss for a young low milage car - they aint no honda thats for sure - theyll make bang on their hp or more often over. im thinking now I wouldnt mind putting my 3.0si on some rollers and seeing what shes putting out.

Re: 3.0si DYNO TEST
Usually they try to use the longest gear possible without dynoing at a crazy speed (mph) because the dyno wouldnt like that. Higher gear would give a more clearer graph as the engine is spinning up for longer.wills wrote:I'll try and post a better pic later.
