BMW TIS

Glad I have mine, cheap to buy and has all the maintenance/repair procedures you need (including special tools and torques)

looks pretty good - similar to the one I bought

not tried installing it on Vista/Win7 yet though. Probably gonna stick with XP and a virtual machine...

Where were you thinking of picking one up from?

I have seen a few on eBay - i'd also be interested in peoples opinions on how useful it is.. i guess it would save a lot of time scratchng my head and trying to work out how to pull bits off the car

I have two BWM TIS Disks.

One is for up to model year 2005 and one for up to 2008 and encompasses everything in the 2005 disk.

The TIS is worth it if you like to work on your own car. If you are the kind of person who does not know which end of a screwdriver to use and always take your car to the dealer, save your money.

If I have not done a certain procedure on the BMW, I study the TIS and it gets me into the ballpark to do just about anything I need to do. This was the way I figured out how to remove my SoftTop.

Just remember, the TIS is written for someone who already has some knowledge of cars and some mechanical ability. It will not show you the basics.

Plus, it has the torque specs that you need....

PVR, for you, the TIS would be worth the expense. I bought my 2005 version on Ebay for $15.00 US. I found the 2008 version on the internet and downloaded it.

Also, if you like to do any type of electrical work, the BMW WDS is a worthwhile tool also.....

Got mine from E Bay. Definately a useful starting poiint for routine maintenance, diagnostics and repair.

Just bought it. Not a lot of money and having two BMWs covered by it is nice. Thanks for the comments guys

you know, if you searched the internet, you'd find what you're looking for, without paying a tenner to someone who's just done the same thing.....

I know it can be downloaded, however it would cost me more then £10 in time to create the disks etc. Besides, I don't use torrents ...

fairynuff :).. although I don't use torrents either ;)

This WILL work with Windows 7 but you have to work around the limitations of the installer. I have it running on Win 7 x64 and had to hack around quite a few registry keys to get it working. I have saved the .key file required if people need help getting it running.

Basic procedure was to install on a Win XP machine and copy all the files across to Win 7. Then import the registry keys required. The tool wouldn't install on 7/Vista through the setup program.

Assuming you have received this by now, are you happy with it and was the seller okay?

I know it's "only" £10, but I'm trying to be less rash with my purchases

Thanks

Got it, installed it and had a play with it. All working fine.

Installation was slightly odd - even on a Win32 machine, and the wire diagrams which I was interested in only works with IE which on my machine, is pure cr*p.

All in all happy for the £10.

I've just had a message from "D.W." about the registry key for windows 7 x64, but have no way to reply to him.
Can you PM me please? Thanks

No no no... don't buy these of eBay!
PM me and I'll sort you out!
