What width winter tyres can you run?

On standard Z4M wheels.

Read several threads but really not sure if should be running 255 on the rear or narrower as they're winters.

225/40 18 all round, but you could run 255s if you wanted

i know tyres are being done to death at the moment , but do you not have to bother with a staggered set up then ? :?

So 225/40/18 all round is ok? Even on the wider rear rims?

How wide are the z4m rims?

Guess it works out alot cheaper. :P

I run Blizzak LM-60's on a staggered setup using 225/45-18 front and 255/40-18 rear. I rarely drive in the snow but I run winter tires for better safer handling with winter temps and wet roads. Yes a 225 tire can be fitted in most cases to a 9 inch rear ///M rim. Tire mfg make the recommendations as to the size rims a specific tires can be fitted to. The 225 Blizzak's I use can be fitted to a 7.5 to a 9 inch rim.

If you can run 225, why do you run 255?

Since I avoid driving in the snow my tire dealer suggested staying with the 255 rear tire. There was very little difference in price so I went with his suggestion. Last year was the first year that I ran the staggered setup and it worked fine even in snow compared to 6 previous winters on 225/45=17's.

Bill I have 4 new M3 replica wheels 18x8 can I fit 225/40/18 up front and 255/40/18 at the rear or would you recommend all four corners to be 225/40/18

Thanks in advance.

Rolf-Dieter, you get a lot more snow than I do and I know that the narrow tire is better in the snow so I would likely go with 225's all around.
