Just wondered if anyone can recommend the best place to get these from. Is it best to go replacement bulbs or the whole new unit? Ive done a search but things are a little unclear and its making my head hurt!!
Thanks

Re: LED numberplate lights
i changed mine, with some led bulbs.... you will need to either get wedge ones, or dremel the lip off the normal ebay type.. as the hole on the stock holder is very small.

BMW has LED replacement lights which are a direct fit on the z4 if you change the connector.

Part n. connectors : 61 13 8 365 340

Thanks for the responses..
Think I prefer the idea of the replacement BMW unit as you will get the guarantee / warranty etc.. Also its a BMW part above all else.
Looking at the instructions, is there some soldering required? I bought some from BMW for my 1 series and all you had to do with that was snap off one of the little lugs on the existing connector so that i snapped into the new unit. Take it this not possible on the Z?

Re: LED numberplate lights
There is no soldering required. You just have to pull off the cables form the old connector and insert them in the new one. The connector costs £1-2, so not worth to try to adapt the old one.

Re: LED numberplate lights
Thanks for the info.. Just contacted local stealer and its £10 + VAT per fitting and about £5 + VAT per cable and connector so about £30+VAT all in. Ill contact Joe at Sopers and see what he quotes. Be interesting to see as my local wont budge on that price!

Re: LED numberplate lights
Z4 Alfie, tried fittin these but can't seem to sort it. All I got from Joe was the bulb units and two plastic connectors. Lookin at the instructions you posted it seems to show two wires plugging into the new connector. Are these the exidtind wires that are pulled out of the existing plug or are they new wires that should have been supplied by Joe? If it's the existing wires then I can't seem to pull them out of the existing plug. They are well and truly in there?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: LED numberplate lights
JDM, I have not installed those, but have dismantled the BMW connectors before for other projects. You usually have to use a small screwdriver to push the connectors (the small one) out of the connector they are house in so you are left with the wires with the metal bits connected to them.
Insert those wires and metal bits into the new connector.
