z4m retro cruise

Retro fitting of cruise control to the z4m can be achieved using O.E parts.

I will contact the tech who did the work and get a reminder of the details of how he did it .

The Cruise was sorted @ Prestige Garage in South Shields . He's a nice guy and am sure he would pass on how it's done. He reckons he can also fettle retro folding mirrors which like cruise was supposed to be impossible.

I have a complete wiring diagram for the z4 on adobe if needed.

I'd be interested in the retro of the folding mirrors. Fitting the control unit, door switch and wiring should be no problem, but I was led to believe the motor is a part of the complete unit making it way too expensive to buy new mirrors to do the job.

I've told my local Indi in Worcestershire about rov1's experience having PM'd him, so I've just delivered my Retrofit Cruise part (ends in 114) for him to start comparing wiring diagrams...

Hopefully should get an eta this week.. I've suggested if he susses it, he might get a few more //M's in to play with

My local BMW dealer quoted me around £300 to install cruise on a Z4M. I mentioned I had heard a retrofit on the M was not possible, they checked and confirmed it was possible? Mind you this was the same dealer who swore blind I couldn't have 3 blinks on my indicators.

Ended up not going for the cruise even though it was previously high on my lists of "Need to Haves" on past cars. Engines like the "M" need human drivers not computers me thinks.

Went to see him on Friday but the blokey I wanted to talk to had gone home early.

He's had a week or so now to investigate so I'll pop over tomorrow and let you know.

Interestingly the kit i took *did* have the extra wiring required for some looms with missing pins, altho I'm sure the /M will need further wires added.

Sounds like a bit of a pain to get it retrofitted?
