Jingles White Z progress thread!! (PICTURE HEAVY)

Post by JINGLE » Mon Jun 22, 2015 11:12 pm

ok its about time! i keep saying ill start one so here goes, it will be a bit basic to start with but at least i can carry on and add stuff in the same place! here goes..

November 2014 I buy my 2008 Z4 2.0i in Alpine White.

Image
Image

one of the 1st jobs i had done was to fix a small oil leak with a rocker cover gasket replacement..

Image

next up was new wheel arch liners all round as they were all worn..

Image

front lower wishbone bushes were knackered so replaced with some poweflex poly bushes

Image

discovered my roof shelf micro switch was bypassed so got a new micro switch and re-wired it all in..

Image

after hitting a MASSIVE pothole and attempting to claim off the council (failed) i broke a rear shock so replaced with some Bilstein B4s at rear

Image
Image

main beam headlight went so replaced with some Phillips Extreme Vision and some new sidelight bulbs

Image

got a ZHP Gearknob off the forum (sorry i forgot who off :headbang: )

Image

new handbrake handle purchased off Jonny Essex

Image

became a member of the stubby crew :P

Image

fitted the awesome Gaptech RCH+ one touch roof control

Image

numberplate lights needed britening up so changed them over to one series LED bulbs

Image
Image
Image

3rd brake light broke so replaced with a clear 3rd brake light which suits white better

(also needed both boot handle inserts and a big thanks to Srhutch for sending me both for free and i gave a forum donation  )

Image

needed to ditch the RFT as they were horrible, full set of Vredsteins all round

Image

after removing bumper realized rear crash bar was damaged so replaced with new
while bumper was off i replaced both broken rear bumper brackets ready for the new bumper in few weeks

Image

front caliper seized up so purchased a full set of drilled/grooved discs, red painted calipers and pads off Jonny Essex (cant thank him enough for these, he sorted me out at a great price and even cleaned them up and gave them a touch up for me  )

heres some pics of Jonnys work

Image

Image

and heres some of mine

Image

Image

Image

Image

fitted

Image (needs small tough up since fitting :headbang: )

and before and after

Image

cleaned roof drains and replaced both splash guards while they were off

Image

thats as much as i can remember for now, i will try and update more often now as it will be easier to keep everything in the same place!!

[EDIT 03/07/15]
door pulls carbon wrapped

Image

hope you enjoy and please leave any feedback and comment!

thanks, Jamie

EDIT - 24/07/15

repaired sagging roof liner...

Image

EDIT - 02/09/15

added some fresh rubber boots to top and bottom of rear springs

Image

Image

Image

EDIT - 07/09/15

after boring people on here for a few weeks about how im waiting to get my Aeros and rear //M bumper sprayed and on the time has finally arrived!! also after some annoying PDC loom troubles i managed to get a 2nd hand loom and to my amazement, it took me 5mins to unplug old loom(really thought it was going to be a mission) and plug in new bumper/PDCs and they only went and worked 1st time!!!!! so chuffed, anyway hers some pictures in case you want to see :D

sorry for poor quality as light was fading and i was in a rush to take it for a quick test drive and take a few pics

EDIT 21/09/15:
only something small, but my old ashtray lid had broke so it sprung up really quick and not slow and steady like it was meant to, so i got a 2nd hand ashtray compartment off the forum and swapped over:

Image

EDIT 26/09/15:
next up was the dash cam, after i ordered the wrong converter (i 1st got 12v > 5v MINI USB) i then ordered a 12v > 5V MICRO USB converter i managed to wire in and install my brand new MINI 0806 dashcam seen below:

EDIT 27/09/15
having replaced all 4 wheel arch liners, the drivers side front was damaged when installed (but was MUCH better condition that the original so fitted it anyway for the time being) managed to source a undamaged replacement so now all 4 corners are perfect:

Image

EDIT 05/10/15
next up was a mod i have been looking forward to for a while, was a bit apprehensive as there has been a bit of bother regarding Quad conversions lately so after plenty of research and a recommendation from forum member ESP i bit the bullet and booked my car in at EMP Performance based in St Albans http://www.empperformance.com/

very friendly and nice people all round and the workmanship is amazing (i followed there fitters on instagram to get an idea for there work.. https://instagram.com/mad_dp/ )

not got many pictures yet but heres 1 i took and 1 from there instagram account where u can see everything..

Image

Image

better quality picture:
Image
EDIT: 10/10/15

both front lower plastic corners were damaged, finally managed to get some replacements at a sensible price. fitted new corners and also refitted all the brake duct brackets etc to stiffen everything up, and modified the lower corners so they dont foul the bottom rear of the bumper fangs and every thing sits perfect now and nothing fouls anything.

old corners off, and new corners ready to go on:
Image

new corners fitted and modified ready for bumper to sit true:

EDIT 22/02/16

broken lug and hole:
Image

plastic cut to size:
Image

all sealed up water tight and fixing lugs replaced:
Image

EDIT 22/02/16

removed light and gave them a good clean and dry out:
Image

EDIT 26/03/16

after a misfire on cylinder 4, swapped coil pack to cylinder 3 and error code moved with it so isolated the problem, quick trip to eurocarparts (in a different car) £20 later and i can replace the coilpack

EDIT 26/03/16

due to not having a undertray for a while a lot of road grime has flicked up into the engine bay, quick clean up and spruce up. once new rocker cover is replaced will give engine bay a proper going over:

EDIT 12/04/16:

been a bit slack on here lately, been busy !

heres some catch up:

abs/dsc warning lights came on so I replaced all 4 abs sensors, after doing all this the problem was still there, turns out it was a faulty wire so i soldered it and all works fine again :D

old next to new:
Image
Image

and also swapped some corroded bolts as 1 rounded off and took an hour to get out

Image

EDIT 16/04/16:

managed to borrow a friends ramp and replaced both heat shields around exhaust, as both were really damaged and back box section had half missing, forgot to get a photo but heres the back box section old and new:
Image
Image

EDIT 30/04/16:

as much as i love my custom red leather roll hoops i cant install the wind deflector brackets so needed a solution.... custom sprayed alpine white roll hoops with wind deflector

Brilliant work, car is going to look amazing. Love the white too, don't think I've ever seen a white one in the flesh! Think a quad may be next on my list.

Thanks guys :) and I've seen it in pictures, not seen it in the flesh..... Not seen a single other Z in the flesh apart from them driving by. Can't wait to make it to a meet and actually sit in others and see how different they are to mine.... Altho I'm a little worried I'll get taken for a ride in a bigger engine and instantly want a bigger engine myself :fuelfire:
